Last year Gomma was approached to rework some songs from the legendary Casablanca Records catalogue. Of course we said yes. So me, Telonius, Munk and The Phenomenal Handclap Band did four new interpretations of classic tracks by Donna Summer & Giorgio Moroder, Skatt Brothers, Stephanie Mills and from the Flashdance soundtrack!

For the project we needed a very special vocalist. There was only one who has the right understanding of history, the perfect dirty approach and enough soul: Peaches. And she was totally enthusiastic about that.

"Casablanca Reworks" will be out on 13 January 2012 on Gomma.

Garnett Silk was a Jamaican reggae musician and Rastafarian, known for his diverse, emotive, powerful and smooth voice. During the early 1990s he was hailed as a rising talent, however, his career was ended by his early death in 1994, while attempting to save his mother from her burning house.
Its exactly one month, it is now 24 years since the death of  Garnett Silk. To mark the milestone, Bobby Kush and realghettostoriez.com pay tribute to the influential vocalist's achievements by putting together this great mix called Hello Muma Africa - Birthday tribute to Garnett Silk
