‘Back to the Beast’ is the debut release from ZILLAS on ACID, aka Thomas Roland and James Weissinger of Philadelphia’s Broadzilla  DJs and Making Time parties. Having recently remixed A Pleasure for Nicolas Jaar’s OTHER PEOPLE label, they now offer up this acidic original, a subtle hunk of techno thunk whose chest cavity opens to reveal a ruttering buzzsaw. Don’t search for meaning: it’s like bobbing for apples in a damn jacuzzi. Look for the full 12” on 100 Years of Solid Dudes in spring 2016.

PRÉMIÈRE: ZILLAS on ACID - Back To The Beast (100 Years of Solid Dudes Records)

Stefan Schwander aka Harmonious Thelonious is definitely not a newcomer. He has been around for a long time and has already released lots of amazingly varied music on labels such as Emotional Response, Italic, Meakusma and Diskant. He’s also an integral part of the infamous Duesseldorf / Salon Des Amateurs axis that is an obvious hotbed of talent. He describes his style as "American minimalism vs. African drumming vs. European sequencing", a heady mixture which is clearly evident on this EP though with a definite Middle Eastern twist. At Versatile HQ they were introduced to this clutch of tracks by one of the members of Acid Arab and were totally blown away. Stefan has a very unique production style, fusing all of the above elements with a hint of Gamelan, a dash of tweaked FM synthesis type sounds with a dose of warm ambience and finally his own singular touch on the mix. Here premiered is the b1 "Defender", our fave cut of this delightful four tracker. revisiting some of the A-side sound palette, but catapulting those cosmic tones into a realm of amphetamine fuelled intensity - peaktime drummy psychedelia for any and all dance floors. IND 003 is the 2nd Vinyl release on INDUSTRIA. Robi Insinna’s new project
label. Industria is not just about music, but also products, art and more.
The Vinyl is limited Edition of 200 Records. 190 are w/ transparent plastic cover
and hand Numbered. 10 Copies will be part of INDUSTRIA LIMITED Show
happening in September and will feature Screen prints on the plastic Cover.
This record one can say was planned a while back when Robi had a DJ gig together with Vox Low. The next day while meeting in the lobby for a late coffee and a croissant in a quiet Bordeaux Hotel, the idea came for a swap Remix on Vinyl.
When Robi started Industria, he still had in mind that the second Vinyl release could be that swap. Guess both Artist coming from a similar background and working in a similar analog organic style liked the idea and knew what they would get sound wise would be something both have plenty to play with.
On the A side Vox Low remixed Robi’s HARD WORK, which was already released
in 2018 including a remix by Die Wilde Jagd. Vox Low turned the track into a dark more dancefloor orientated version. Still with the trademark Vox Low sounds and Guitars.
On the B side Robi remixed You Are A Slave. He liked all the sounds so much that he thought it is better to keep as much from the original as possible, still trying to make it his own version. He added percussion to create a more funky/dark sound and extended the track. The dub was done in an old school kind of way. All the parts where laid out on a mixer and assigned to various tape delays and reverbs and would be dubbed real time, in the school of Mad Professor or Lee Perry. Not an easy approach and it needed several takes till it started making sense. All mistakes and organic things where important to this Dub.
Robi will be hosting an INDUSTRIA Limited exhibition later in the year, which will
show the direction the label is going.

Olimpiada Records have been kind enough to share Pines in the Sun - Zig Zag Sea, an EP which evokes the ocean to the point where you can almost taste salt in your mouth when you listen to it. Sun is the lead cut and opens with a meditative chant which is later joined in quite kindly by laidback disco sounds which set an irresistable tone before giving way to warm and life affirming guitar tones. 
Uj Pa Gaz and Olsi's new project is clearly here to bring the solar rays, the breeze and the distant sound of the waves through our ears and into our souls... Just make sure you bring a towel. Out July 11th on digital format.

ALF CHAMPION is a DJ, Producer and Visual Artist born and raised in Guadalajara, Mexico. Almost everyone who hears about him thinks his name is a dumb made-up name… but actually that is his real name.

ALF says -

This material was the result of severals months of work. The first track I did was “Lucidus Somnia”, and it’s about the mystery of lucid dreams. It took me several days to conclude this song, experimenting with different capture methods. The second track I did was “Raptum” which is a bit more aggressive and tells the story of an alien abduction in a fun way. The last track “Frigus Frigus” is a bit more romantic, slow and friendly, and I did it to counteract the intensity of the first two tracks.
