DJ Gareth Hughes – Hard House & Hard Trance Pioneer
A fixture of Scotland’s underground club scene in the late ‘90s and early 2000s,  Gareth carved out a name in the back rooms and after-hours parties where the beats were faster, the basslines heavier, and the energy relentless. Cutting his teeth in the harder edges of Edinburgh’s club circuit, he became a go-to name for those craving pounding hard house, euphoric hard trance, and no-nonsense, high-energy sets.

From legendary nights at clubs like The Venue, Wilkie House, and Studio 24 to underground parties across central Scotland, Gareth kept dancefloors locked into 150+ BPM sessions of peak-time madness. His sets were a relentless blend of hard house anthems, driving European trance, and bootleg mashups that kept the crowd moving until sunrise.

Whether warming up with bouncy basslines or slamming down harder, darker sounds in the early hours, Gareth was all about the music, the atmosphere, and the raw energy of the scene. Though the clubs may have changed, the memories of those sweat-drenched, speaker-shaking nights still live on.

The Comeback – Rekindling the Passion
After stepping away from the scene for a while, Gareth rediscovered his love for the harder side of dance music in 2020. With a fresh appreciation for the classic sounds and a renewed hunger for the decks, he’s back, now incorporating harder techno into his arsenal. Whether it’s slamming techno kicks, pounding hard house, or euphoric hard trance, the mission remains the same—keeping the underground alive with relentless beats and untamed energy.

Though the clubs may have changed, the passion hasn’t. The fire is back. And the beats are harder than ever.
