On the the a-side he ups the intensity once again with pure squealing machine funk in the form of ‘Modular Framework’ & ‘Displacer’.

The flip contains 2 menacing remixes of ‘Displacer’ by Sleeparchive, an inspiration to both Ctrls & Token. We never hoped for a match this perfect.

CLR Podcast 255 – Kr!z

It is Monday the 13th of January 2014 and we have Kr!z back on the CLR Podcast with a generous two and a half hours long set. The founder of the internationally acclaimed Belgian imprint Token Records has used two turntables, two CDJ´s and one FX to mix together 51 tracks into this excellent set, showing once more his great musical taste and outstanding DJ skills. The present podcast contains a mixture of older, classic pieces and brand-new material, including several exclusive, unreleased tracks such as upcoming Token releases by CTRLS and Rødhåd. Over the last decade, Kr!z has become a respected and established value in Belgium´s Techno scene and a resident-DJ for the legendary 'Kozzmozz' nights. Deep bass rumbles in the dirtybird jungle as Justin Jay swathes into the fray once again with yet another impeccable collection of tracks. From acid house foundations to the sonic semiotics of Detroit - his ability to fuse a timeless, full-bodied dancefloor blend is remarkable. The Instincts EP follows up a notable appearance on VonStrokes Urban Animal remix album and continues Justin's steady rise as he finishes his college degree while also interning at the dirtybird head office!

"Analysis Paralysis" is a hypnosis homage: percussive elements strip and tease amid the mix while a sharp, sinewy synth line twists and turns itself inside out.  All the while a deep, almost dub-level bassline bubbles and bobs over the concrete kicks.  

"Denial," done in tandem with PILO, is a sludgier, loopy beast that struts with a bi-polar moodiness. Both reflective and growling the fine balance is kept in check between the purring metallic SFX and human vocal touches. 

 "Instincts" closes the show with bleepy gusto.  Instantly infectious thanks to its sturdy rhythmic clap, were soon dropped into a bold, bulbous bass riff that smoulders and shimmers with 808 finesse.

Timeless, full-bodied and unarguably funky: Justin Jay just keeps on delivering. Press play and get busy.

Old school vibes with a badass bassline and the legendary Robert Owens on vocals creating a 2014 summer bomb! The pack includes a Vanilla Ace remix, one of the producers of the moment that released tracks on labels as Toolroom or Ministry of Sound  and a David Herrero remix, prolific Spanish producer that releases on labels as Defected, Kling Klong or Saved that completes this amazing package.

The BALANS roster is growing evermore internationally with fresh Moscow signing Nphonix. The Russian producer made big waves in the global Drum & Bass and Dubstep scene, but is no stranger to juke, acid and techno as he proven on previous releases. His different background provides him with a fresh angle on classic techno, pushing the envelope for the genre in a manner we love.

For the Benway EP’s title track, a coop with fellow Russian producer Apobothra, the term ‘monster track’ is an understatement. The slow, careful build up doesn’t prepare the unweary listener for the wall of sound that’s yet to come. After the drop Benway evolves into a relentless tornado, destroying everything in it’s sonic path. 
Black Acid and Nebrakada on the flip are have the same sonic signature, but are more trippy by nature. Both tunes reveal Nphonix dubstep background 135-140 bpm tempos, without losing any of their funk through pulsating bass grooves.
