James Rod (Label Owner of Golden Soul Records) joins me (Mr Wilkinson) for my second Back 2 Back mix – and I couldn’t be more excited!

James has released records with the likes of Chris Massey, Rigopolar, Copycat, Italobruto, Tulioxi, Sommerville & Wilson, Dim Zach, Javier Busto and Alex Aguayo plus produced remixes/collaborations with Pete Herbert, Shubostar, Dombrance, Daniel Monaco, Ilya Santana, Ichisan, Rayko, Celestino, Hoochie Coochie Papa and Los Fugazzi amongst many, many more.

The first hour of this mix sees me delivering my usual combo of slowed down upbeat bangers followed by James as he transforms cosmic disco, dark disco, funk and italo, into modern grooves suitable for every dance floor.

That bassline and synths are just a “délire” as the frenchies would say - don’t know anything about this culture though, just assuming now that I learn 🇫🇷 with Italo Disco ..

I changed a lot of things: redid the whole intro, took out big chunks of garbage, especially the ones right after the refrains (the annoying crac-crac-crac), and redid the outro too.  

Gosh some people should be forbidden to have a sampling button in front of them 😂

In 1978 Bernard Fevre decided to pretty much invent cosmic disco. The former library music producer had turned his hand to deliciously dark disco a few years before, but it was underground smash 'H-Friend' that really made him a force to be reckoned with on dancefloors the globe round. Well, apart from the fact that that record was, at the time, incredibly obscure. He then went from relative obscurity to total disappearance. 

In 2004 Rephlex reissued the Disco Club EP and a star was reborn. This time around, Alter K have decided to get a tonne of great acts to give Fevre a going over for a series of EPs. 

Today we're bringing you an exclusive listen to the "dance" EP featuring remixes from Africaine 808, Turzi, DJ Tide, and the legendary Andrew Weatherall.
