Harvey Sutherland

セッションをメインに活動し、シーンの外にいたアナログシンセシストのHarvey Sutherlandはカセットテープを手に持ってメルボルンのアンダーグラウンドシーンから現れた。2013年、メルボルンのThis Thing Recordsより『Low Attitude』をMike Kay名義でリリース。2014年、HarveySutherland名義で、This Thing Recordsよりカセットテープ『Nexus』をリリース。さらに同年、ギリシャのEchovolt Recordsより『EDGES EP』とメルボルンのVoyage Recordingsからの『Brothers EP』により、ダンスフロアの熱狂的なファンを得た。これまでに、People’s Potential Unlimited、Plastic WorldやVoltaire Recordsからも自身の楽曲やリミックスなどの作品をリリース。Bradley Zero、Tom Noble、Motor City Drum Ensembleなどのサポートを受けている。2015年には、FACT Magazine「Australian Electronic Artists to Watch in 2015」 の一人としても名前を挙げられていて、同年5月にヨーロッパでの11日間に及ぶのクラブでのツアーを果たした。そして、Motor City Drum EnsembleのレーベルMCDE Recordingsから『Bermuda EP』をリリース。レーベルのテイストをもっとも反映したEPとなっている。彼のフリースタイルのライブは、Juno60シンセサイザーをコントロールをしながら、新しいフレーズやモジュレーションのループを構築した電子音のブギーの冒険ともいえる。

―収録した場所はどこですか？

現在滞在中のイギリス・ブライトンのホテルで収録しました。


―ミックスのコンセプトを教えてください。

とくにコンセプトはありませんが、最近よく聴いている楽曲を使用しました。ポストパンクだったり、少し変なファンクだったり、ドラムの面白い曲やパーカッションの曲だったりが最近のお気に入りです。


―日本の印象について教えてください。

日本は好きな国のひとつで、ここ何年かは年に１度は訪問してます。日本で初めてライブを行うことができて、すごく楽しみにしてます。


―今後の予定を教えてください。

今年中にリリース予定の12インチを現在制作しています。7～8月には自分のバンド、Bermudaでのヨーロッパツアーを予定しているので、アジアの国でも実現できるといいですね。
