Invoking shades of ‘90s and ‘00s masters like DJ Shadow and Portishead, both tracks, “Breather” and “Bruv,” illustrate time-lost scenes of sophisticated yet hallucinogenic instrumentation and percussion that could belong in upscale jazz clubs or woozy after-hours sessions. Breather expands the label’s breadth from timeless breaks and house music to include crackling, mind-altering trip-hop, acid jazz, and downtempo. The two songs are the building blocks for a larger, forthcoming body of work by ANIML, set for release in early 2025 alongside a vinyl release, video, and extras.

Recognized by both mainstream (Billboard) and underground (Beatportal) tastemakers alike, StrataSonic was created to empower artists and explore the depths of their musical expression free from the confines of genre. From uptempo house to tribal to ambient, the label celebrates experimentation, champions artistic freedom, and embraces the beauty of non-conformity. Each release on the label will be available on vinyl and be accompanied by a music video. Over the course of the past five years, Amsterdam based label Indigo Aera has evolved in to one of the most trustworthy and respected contemporary Detroit techno labels around.

In October 2016, @IndigoAera embarks on their biggest release to date: a limited edition 5 LP box-set. The Lost Archives Special consists of unreleased tracks from absolute legends, to music that has never been released in a physical form before, to fresh compositions of techno’s most talented contemporary artists. This is the premiere of 500 Models (demo mix) by Joris Voorn.

Now one of dance music’s most respected DJs, Avalon Emerson first made a name for herself in the storied warehouse scene of her birthplace, San Francisco, before relocating to Berlin in 2013. Over a decade of performances at the famed Berghain led to appearances at numerous festivals around the world which all cemented Emerson, and her evocative, genre- and decade-spanning sets, as perennially in demand. 

In 2020, she released her first full-length collection: a contribution to the longrunning DJ-Kicks series (which Resident Advisor described as “The sound of a well-honed DJ at the top of her game.”), nestled alongside a steady stream of remix releases for the likes of Four Tet, Slowdive, Robyn and more.

Next up was 2023’s Avalon Emerson & The Charm, an instant classic which saw Emerson exploring her singing voice and more traditional songwriting outside of the boundaries of her dance music work.  Created after a move to New York, the resulting & The Charm album was released to critical acclaim, landing on numerous critics’ best-of-the-year lists.

The stage is now set, then, for her to carve out a wholly unique path, and with the help of new label home and indie giant, Dead Oceans, Emerson is poised to connect her various musical endeavors to create an untouchably rich output of material. First up is Perpetual Emotion Machine, consisting of songs created for her DJ sets, delivered via a living, evolving project and announced ahead of her worldwide tour.
