Ohh it's this track, I've heard this on the mixes. It always stuck out to me because that combination of stabs intro reminds me a little of Derezzed by Daft Punk. Nostalgia aside though, superb mixing. Sounds are very distinct and the vocals are very clear.

This part is great. The bass before it was fantastic as well, I was listening to Tipper shortly before this and normally not much hits hard after that... I'm thinking it's the aggressive attack on the bassline.

@biminibabes was shaped in the queer club scene but after becoming a TV sensation in 2019 they were discouraged from pursuing their passion for dance music., Now, the East London drag icon and DJ is firmly back in that world.

The Mix 054: Bimini

I need you is the second single for Dam Swindle’s album ‘Open’ and has the Dutch house masters in top form with a track that hints to modern UKG and crossover electronica acts like Barry can’t Swim. The hook from the lead is massive and the looped vocals of Haile Supreme (recently called the Ethiopian Curtis Mayfield by Timbaland) will stay in your head long after the song is over. With huge support for the first single Girl, this new single will surely build the hype towards the full album.

It's twins! Following the birth of his first child, and a failed (yet noble) bid for the Papacy, Bawrut returns with Papa Bawrut Part 2, the second holy chapter in his ongoing musical sermon. While fatherhood may have brought sleepless nights, it's also delivered wild inspiration, with this EP offering up a brace of fearless, genre-defying cuts.

Leading the release is La Notte, a creative late-night jam inspired by an hypnotic performance of 'Klan' by Italian pop star Mahmood.  'I had forgotten how amazing the repetition of 'La Notte' sounded, so I used it as the foundation for the track,' Bawrut explains. 'Because when do we all come together to dance? La Notte, of course.'

Next up is Vibracall, a bold middle finger to lazy nostalgia. 'A lot of club music today sounds like it's stuck in the year 2000,' says Bawrut. 'If I'm going to use the past, I want something iconic.' Enter: the vibration tone from the first-gen cell phones. Reimagined, repurposed, and flipped.

Closing the EP is a deeper, darker reinterpretation of La Notte from Irish producer and friend Hammer. With bubbling synths, ghostly vocal textures, and precise percussion, it adds a moody exhale to Bawrut's high-energy offering.

Papa Bawrut Part 2 is untamed, unpredictable, and undeniably him.

Now one of dance music’s most respected DJs, Avalon Emerson first made a name for herself in the storied warehouse scene of her birthplace, San Francisco, before relocating to Berlin in 2013. Over a decade of performances at the famed Berghain led to appearances at numerous festivals around the world which all cemented Emerson, and her evocative, genre- and decade-spanning sets, as perennially in demand. 

In 2020, she released her first full-length collection: a contribution to the longrunning DJ-Kicks series (which Resident Advisor described as “The sound of a well-honed DJ at the top of her game.”), nestled alongside a steady stream of remix releases for the likes of Four Tet, Slowdive, Robyn and more.

Next up was 2023’s Avalon Emerson & The Charm, an instant classic which saw Emerson exploring her singing voice and more traditional songwriting outside of the boundaries of her dance music work.  Created after a move to New York, the resulting & The Charm album was released to critical acclaim, landing on numerous critics’ best-of-the-year lists.

The stage is now set, then, for her to carve out a wholly unique path, and with the help of new label home and indie giant, Dead Oceans, Emerson is poised to connect her various musical endeavors to create an untouchably rich output of material. First up is Perpetual Emotion Machine, consisting of songs created for her DJ sets, delivered via a living, evolving project and announced ahead of her worldwide tour.
