Over the last two decades, Above & Beyond’s Anjunabeats label has launched the careers of some of the most respected names in electronic music: Andrew Bayer, ARTY, Audien, ilan Bluestone, Seven Lions and Mat Zo, to name just a few. In January 2021, the label launched Anjunabeats Rising: a new EP series highlighting the next generation of producers and championing emerging artists from around the world.

Euphoric Nation, Michael Fearon & Lya Adams, Apollo Nash and Chris Schambacher all feature on the latest edition in the series, Anjunabeats Rising Volume 10. 

Originally the solo project of trance DJ Don Ortega, Euphoric Nation became a duo earlier in 2021 with the addition of Justin Zanish. Michael Fearon is an established name in Northern Ireland’s dance music scene, and his productions have heavily featured on Above & Beyond’s Group Therapy Radio. They’ve recruited Swedish singer-songwriter Lya Adams for their collaboration ‘Stranger’.

Hailing from New Jersey, Apollo Nash cut his teeth releasing on Elliptical Sun Recordings. Elements of trance, progressive and breakbeat all collide on ‘Need You’. He describes the track “as an embodiment of all the sounds and styles that have inspired me from both within and outside of dance music throughout the years”.

Rounding off the EP is progressive house DJ/producer Chris Schambacher with ‘For Your Love’. Chris has recently supported Tiestö on tour, and has garnered recognition with his remix of Cash Cash’s ‘All My Love’ on Atlantic Records.

The result of this collaboration is the emotionally charged “Because You’re Here”.  Beautifully written piano chords dance alongside Jennifer’s unmistaken voice as she carries the track with her heartwarming vocals. On the flipside, White Zoo warps and twists the track into new territories. We had a discussion in the AVA offices and one word that kept popping up was “wacky”. Busting borders with creative uses of wobbles and square leads, White Zoo surprises with his remix and the complexity of his arrangement. This remix encompasses everything that complextro and electro are all about and if you’re after an alternative mix, this is the one for you!

AVA’s 93rd release comes from Miami’s Joseph Areas. Having already stamped his mark with remixes of Andy Moor’s “Fade To Light” as well as Andy’s collaboration with Lange, Joseph makes a single appearance on AVA with a progressive hard hitter entitled ‘Beluga’. Twisting together bass stabs alongside big open chords and a cheeky square lead, ‘Beluga’ is a nice break from overly aggressive music without losing it’s club appeal.
