Swiss underground electronic music heavyweight Alessandro Crimi celebrates the release of his latest album, Sirius, by making his 10th contribution for Avenue Red. The album was released last month on London label Natural Expressions, both digitally and on a limited edition cassette tape in a beautiful silk screen printed package. It is a deep techno/electro masterpiece loaded with futuristic machine soul, uniquely crafted sound designs with pulsating, intense rhythmic energy and shimmering, haunting, ethereal melodies.

It is themed on a journey though our galaxy, as most tracks are aptly titled after a named star or constellation. After a salubrious pause in our output, the Avenue Red Podcast resumes forward motion with the second installment in the series from one of our favourite DJ's and producers - Alessandro Crimi. This mix is inspired by the fresh autumnal vibes around his picturesque hometown of St. Gallen in the Swiss Alps, as he delivers a stunning blend of magical, dreamy house music full of blissful melodies, slick, grooving beats and soul-warming basslines. Avenue Red were grateful to ourselves for having made the impeccable choice to rock up in Margate on the extreme southeast edge of England to witness a phenomenal event back in April. Masterclass sets from all who played there, with this live set from Reedale Rise (real name Simon Keat) being one of the highlights to shine on this wonderful soundsystem in a visually stunning venue. It was ace to also unexpectedly bump into some key agents of organised UK underworld deepness, including Miles Atmospheric of Atmospheric Existence Recordings, Bovill of cult label Meanwhile and many others! "This set was recorded directly from my live performance at Faith In Strangers, Margate earlier this year for Ornate Music and 50arc. The venue is fantastic with a beautifully tuned sound system, views over the sea, and lovely hospitable staff. The event was a chance for me to catch up with people I'd not seen since before the pandemic and put some faces to online names, including Avenue Red's very own Alec.

My live set has changed a lot over the years and the current evolution is all unreleased house and techno tracks. The music I play live has moved in this direction simply because it's more relevant to the dancefloor and more fun to perform to a crowd than some of my deeper electro tracks. Gear-wise, I've added a Roland TR8S drum machine to Ableton, which has allowed me more opportunity to improvise and react spontaneously. Listening back, I'm happy with how the set sounds and hope it resonates with people. Stockport-based Preston lad Olly Godfrey steps up for his debut mix for the Avenue Red Podcast with a stunning CD-length session of deep house and grooving 4/4 dancefloor fodder. We attest that this guy knows how to select and glue records together alright, as we had the pleasure of hearing him spin a head-warping set last summer at a 40th birthday party at the lovely venue named 33 Oldham Street in central Manchester (guess the address?!). That was a wildly uptempo & techy affair, but here he demonstrates his maturity as a DJ with a calmer, slower and more down to earth pure house music vibe.

"I haven't really played many events worth mentioning, mainly just smaller parties and gatherings with friends over the years, plus the occasional radio show. I started DJing at 16 and I turn 40 this year. I started out going to events like Gatecrasher and Cream, then slowly going to more house and techno nights such as Tribal Sessions and Bugged Out!. These all had a strong influence on my sound.

Trust when we tell you this mix has been a long-time coming... And now, finally, enter Tm Shuffle (AKA Trackmaster Shuffle AKA DJ Shuffle). His real name is Jukka Hänninen and he originates from Ruutana, Finland - a settlement absorbed into the country's sprawling second-largest city Tampere, which lies in the south of the country, about 150 km north of Helsinki.

Jukka is a purveyor of finest deep & dubby techno music as an artist, DJ and label boss with his Vuo Records and Soulful Dubs imprints, which stretch back to a first release in 2003. His labels have released the works of his friends and fellow countrymen like Monoder, Phonogenic, Trevor Deep Jr; Star Dub; Armin Bender; Marco Cassanelli; former Avenue Red guest OHM and his long-time collaborator Kvadrant, to name just a handful.

This mix is a testament to his veteran status on the decks and his keen ear for a patient, treacle-smooth flowing deep dubbed-out techno vinyl mix that feels transcending, full of cosmic touches... and if you close your eyes you can see the northern lights shimmering in your mind as you let the sounds wash over you.

All fans of Avenue Red will know Alessandro well, as he has touched our souls with his expertly crafted mixes loaded with unforgettable vibes and deepness.

The Waehlscheibe label boss was going to do a special studio mix for this one, however a smoked-out live gig in his hometown of St. Gallen last weekend was recorded and after a listen through, we decided that it fitted the bill nicely.

Here master Crimi delivers a crazy eclectic mix of deep, tripped out lounge lizard tracks, which oozes into some of the most delicious deep house and electro ever produced, then finished with a smattering of liquid drum & bass tracks.

"I didn't expect this mix to be used for a proper podcast... I only recorded it so that I had something fresh to listen to, like a playlist of some of my favourites in my collection.

I wasn't even spending all the time behind the booth as I knew the length of the tracks, so I occasionally went outside for smoke, then came in just to play the next one... that's why some of the time I didn't mix at all. Avenue Red Podcast #125 - Alessandro Crimi

The Avenue Red Podcast presents a fresh addition to the roster. Welcome Kyrro (real name George Kury) who is originally from France and is now based in Amsterdam, the Dutch capital city full of red light districts, trippy weed cafes and intriguing bars and clubs with a strong undercurrent of underground electronic music culture.

Kyrro sent us a few mixes in the past and there was a sad story: an accidental data loss occurred on both sides and an incredible 1-hour mix he created to be released on Avenue Red was lost forever. This is the new improved version, the final directors cut, which has come 1 year later and we are over the moon to be able to finally do this!

One word comes to mind from the sounds within: Glacial. This mix really captures a mood of travelling through cold icy waters and exploring landscapes full of glaciers... the loneliness, the isolation - apart from the odd polar bear - and the beautifully barren nature of such a place is all wrapped up into one dreamy, textured package... full of echo, melancholy and slow, timeless motion.

"I grew up in France in the 90's playing electric guitar and experimenting with synthesizers. I produce analogue soundscapes using hardware tools with a mix of raw elements and a modern touch. I love living in Amsterdam where I am constantly working to shape deep and ambient electronics into my own sound, while continuing to explore new musical horizons.
