It's time to step out of the dense fog of days past, tempted by the deeply reverberating siren's call of 'Visions of Clarity', Collate's maiden voyage EP on Upon You. While 'Glossolalia's thumping, heads-down beat locks you into an airtight vacuum from the go, Daniela Rhodes' beguiling vocal slithers soon guide us into a shimmering landscape of dubbed-out synths and craftly placed effects. These are only brought to the fore by label-head Marco Resmann on his 'Re-Edit One'. Here, a chunky metallic groove unspools into an echo-chamber of infinite depth. In contrast, Resmann's 'Re-Edit Two' ups the ante by adding a neon-synth overload to the mix, making for an equally immersive result. On 'Backpfeifengesicht' Collate then strips things down for the after-hour, letting disoriented bleeps tap-dance over a hugely satisfying minimalist framework, reminding us of the early 90s sound-axis between Berlin and the north of England. Lastly, Collate activates the bunker vibes by way of 'Awumbuk', concluding a powerful EP with a viciously moreish bomb. This one's for those bleary-eyed moments we've come to miss so much. Let's enjoy them while we can.

PREMIERE: Karol XVII & MB Valence - Universum (Jackspeare Original Interpretation)

'Hailing from Athens, Greece, Stelios Vassiloudis poses a triple threat as a composer, producer and DJ. Having been active in the electronic music scene since the early 2000s he has cultivated his own brand of distinctive ambience reflective of his rich and diverse musical background; transcending the dance floor via an emotional narrative of complex soundscapes, intricate harmonies and hypnotic rhythms. 

'End Transmission' was the first track on the upcoming album to be completed. After Stelios sought reclusion in his studio during the pandemic, he was met with a 64 bar loop of ambient drones and harmonic washes after wading through folder upon folder of previously created projects, in search of something different. Rather "generic" at the time, Stelios made deliberate adjustments including 7/8 time signature changes impacting the phrasing and rhythmic patterns, and ensured plenty of time was set aside to revel in all of the magical unpredictability when recording with live instruments. 

The release is accompanied by an extra 'Sweet Sunny' remix by iconic electronic producer John Beltran that will also feature on the album's limited edition 2LP and cassette. Stelios has also created a further dub variation of the track. 

Ten years on from his last full length, All Else Fails is a stimulating odyssey to anyone listening. Harmonically dense, arcadian glistens seep throughout the ten tracks, each complimentary to the next. Bask in the wistful iridescence and you won't be disappointed. 

Stelios carved his way into electronic music by traversing around the globe as a DJ and performer performing at intimate underground bars in Beirut, festivals in Miami, after hours in Tokyo, beaches in Goa and mega clubs in Argentina. Having developed a formidable discography on esteemed labels such as Bedrock, Poker Flat, Ovum, Constant Sound and Darkroom Dubs, among others, Stelios' studio prowess and coveted productions cemented his reputation as a versatile and acclaimed artist. His intense passion and drive for innovation in music serves as the fuel to keep him inspired and relevant, qualities that no doubt ensure his reputation as an artist of the highest calibre, will endure.'

03. Re You, Florian Busse - Cuando  (Original Mix)

Coming straight from the streets of Brooklyn / New York City is Rao, an electronic artist and producer on the rise but defo not a fresh face in the music industry at all. Formerly prone to heavy guitar based music as a member of several Metal band outfits and touring all across the United States Rao has taken a full on turn and is now ready to transform regular dancefloors into proper melodic hugpits of joy with his „Sun Gate EP".

The opening title cut „Sun Gate" sees Rao in full effect, starting out with a stretched, uplifting build up sequence and ever present, moving mid range synths in continuous interplay with tender melodic pads and patches, bringing forth a thought out balance of tension and relief, accompanied by a certain mystique whilst interestingly avoiding any potential climax before giving way to the next tune in the mix.

With „Sprinkles" Rao caters more of a deep melodic feel on a distinct TechHouse foundation, introducing layers upon layers of soft, blurry and dubbed out pads for a start before a stripped down main signal, all embracing organic groove and tender, yet slight aggressive and off-kilter midrange modulations add a slightly technoid counterpart element to the tunes all embracing friendliness.

Finally „Fallen Arches" explores outworldly terrain unfolding atop Rao's trademark sculpted TechHouse drums. Whipping percussive elements in the background, gated snares and hi-hats as well as a driving, synth bass are the basic structural elements on which ever moving strings and pads unfold, move and intertwine, bringing on an iridescent memory of beautiful sunrises, early morning sunrise Trance as well as everlasting love and world peace.
