Spotted by hardcore legends Marc Acardipane and Manu Le Malin, Cuften is one of the best guardians of the rave identity of these last years in France. Since 2017, he has been shaping an uncommon sound identity between electro, IDM, techno and rave that stands out with a 100% analog sound, anchored in the future, inspired by its precursors like DMX Krew, I-F or Legowelt.
After a remarkable debut on Tripalium or Minimum Syndicat, Cuften was opened the doors of the acclaimed label Planet Phuture - the first artist other than his creator to sign on the label - by the legend Marc Acardipane, on which he signed two EPs with artworks created by Number3, creator of the Aphex Twin logo. In only a few years, Cuften performed at such prestigious stages such as Transmusicales, Le Printemps de Bourges, Astropolis or Concrete / Dehors Brut, has been acclaimed by big medias like Tsugi or Radio Nova and is playlisted by Helena Hauff.

Nowadays, Cuften makes his arrival on Astropolis Records with "Animal Suicide", a 5-track EP on vinyl including a remix by Dutch pioneer Legowelt . Digital version includes a bonus remix by French producer Cate Hortl (best known to be half of Oktober Lieber).
An EP whose purpose denounces our society’s thirst for technological progress, essentially fed with analogical instruments and sounds evoking the beginnings of techno in the late 80s and early 90s. However, if the timeless sounds of the EP evoke the past, the music of Cuften alchemizes a contemporary, inventive sound and an anti-commercial approach. A nostalgic music that deconstructs the rave heritage towards futuristic sounds, with the help of his old analogical synthesizers. A rather raw and rave first approach where the groove is however omnipresent, making Cuften's music a resolutely accessible and federative whole with its combination of D.I.Y aesthetics and vocals, mixed with an ingenious and inventive technique on the machines.

The EP opens with Animal Suicide, a melancholic and analogical melody, dark and luminous, progressively settling towards a rave rhythmic with a powerful kick. A vaporous and vintage electro with a futuristic look with its vocoded voice and its cinematographic touches.
No More Sunday Regrets is more experimental and brutal at first before giving way to a synthetic and psychedelic melody with singular rhythms and organic synths.
Unibios captivates with its luminous melody before a bewitching acid line which snakes gradually settles, accompanied by a heavy bassline.
Heart Particles calls out with a sharp contrast, with its soft voice and melody, as if the shuffle mode had landed us on an ambient record. The tempo increases progressively with an acid line and a slow and powerful rhythms, between the psychedelia of The Orb and Warp’s reveries of the 90's.
Final track is a remix by Dutch pioneer Legowelt, master of synthesizers and underground electro who has always been a great source of inspiration for Cuften. From the start, his rereading of Animal Suicide captivates with a raw and powerful bassline followed by an acid melody with strong emotional power intertwined with the original vocal. 
On the digital version, French producer Cate Hortl aka Charlotte Boisselier, former member of Oktober Lieber and freshly signed on the trendy label Ritmo Fatale closes the EP with an ecstatic remix of No More Sunday Regrets, combination of italo, industrial, synth techno and dark wave. A great revision with the most exciting elements of the club culture, full of 80’s vibes.

Founded by DJ and producer Discrete Circuit in 2012, AWAY was born in Berlin out of a purist desire to establish a party for timeless house and techno music. In the early days, AWAY moved from multiple in- and outdoor venues to showcases across Europe to ultimately finding a stable home base at the About Blank club in 2015. Quickly they earned a reputation as a must-attend event series without losing its underground credibility. The AWAY crew did not shy away from booking many veterans and legends of the genre, some of whom are now on the compilation "AWAY 10 Years".

London-based producer Otik releases his first album 'Cosmosis' on Martyn's label 3024. The 11-track LP signifies the fourth album on the imprint across its ten-year tenure, showcasing a more introspective side to Otik's musical output.

The album leans into delicate melodies, hazy atmospheres and lush analogue sounds, often evoking blissed-out feels and ripples of brilliant colour. Produced three years ago during lockdown, 'Cosmosis' comes after a period of spiritual struggles, where Otik questioned his faith, religious beliefs, and the concepts of right and wrong. While the pandemic allowed ample time for reflection, Otik translated these thoughts into music from his Peckham-based studio, later finding a home on 3024's evolving discography.

Following Otik's EP 'Soulo' in 2021, 'Cosmosis' marks the second release from the Bristol-born DJ and producer on 3024. This time, his sound stems from a broader palette, touching on slower, aerated ambient notes through to rugged D'n'B, displaying the far-reaching breadth, vision and maturity of Otik's aesthetic.

Keen to release a body of work that explores the journey of enlightenment and the struggles to get there, Otik drew inspiration from the luminary filmmaker Terrence Malick and how Malick portrayed ideas and philosophies in films like The Tree of Life and Voyage of Time. As a result, the record conveys a compelling narrative of rebirth, told through exquisite sound design and a push-pull pace that oscillates across the album.

The lead single 'Cosmosis' binds astral breakbeats with a star-lined melody stitched against a spacious backdrop. Sparse, celestial vocals punctuate the soundscape and add a spiritual feel, culminating in a dazzling trip at just over five minutes.

Returning to his classic style of rugged, explosive techno, Kompakt luminary and co-founder REINHARD VOIGT certainly isn't one to mince beats - his latest 12" outing REISEN & SPEISEN presents a sure-footed duo of intense, minimalist bangers whose lean and efficient structure is finely tuned for maximum impact. The title track drops a simple-yet-mindmelting synth horn into a seething primeval soup of stoic bass and stomping drums - a dead-aim floor projectile packing a worrying amount of punch. Flipside surprise WÜHLER showcases a rare electro exploit by an artist mostly known for unerring techno, indulging in a gnarly new wave bassline being boiled and some expertly placed synth splashes - a refreshing deviation that nevertheless keeps the elbowing momentum of Voigt's sweat-soaked live sets.

Dark Entries is proud to release “Helden Platz”, a long out of print 12” maxi single from seminal Italian electronic act Kirlian Camera. Keyboardist/vocalist Angelo Bergamini founded the project in Parma in
1979 and named it after an electronic device that photographs the electromagnetic halo around objects and living beings. By 1980, Angelo had recruited singer Simona Buja, keyboardist Fabrizio Chiari, and bassist Mauro Montacchini. Their demo cassette, “Dawn”, attracted the attention of Italian Records, a popular independent label. Over the next few years the band would release their first mini-LP, “Kirlian Camera”, the full length “ It Doesn't Matter, Now”, and the singles “Communicate,” “Edges,” and “Blue Room”. The latter was a significant hit, eventually landing them a deal with Virgin Records.

By 1987 the line up consisted of Angelo Bergamini on all instruments, Charlie Mallozzi on electronic drums and Simona Buja on vocals. Virgin wanted the band to provide another hit single in order to exploit the success of “Blue Room", refusing to release the band's less commercial material. In 1987 the band went Lark Studio at Carimate Castle, Italy to record with Italo disco producer Oderso Rubini.   Thanks to the insistence of Bergamini, the label agreed to release “Helden Platz”, German for “Heroes' Square,” in 1987. The song features Kirlian Camera’s brand of dark wave, marked by haunting melodies, slow moving
synth washes, and orchestral strings. The song features the stark, dramatic vocals of Simona Buja, who sings about the “Blue blood of Winter” in a tale of Germany and Austria during World War II. Included here is the extended 12” mix, the 7" edit, plus the original B-side “Burial”,  an instrumental that evokes a funeral procession soundtrack.

All songs are remastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. It is housed in the original jacket, featuring a photo of a headstone from Zentralfriedhof Cemetery in Vienna. Each copy includes
a 2-sided postcard with lyrics and photos of the band.

James Welsh continues his run of exemplary club singles on Phantasy with another powerful and uncompromising two-track release, Sitting/Rubber Dog. The record follows D974, which earned support from DJs including Laurent Garnier, Charlotte de Witte and Luke Slater.

Sitting enforces precision rhythm with a rolling, dystopian bass line alongside a hypnotic and memorable vocal sample. As the tension increases, the track’s clinical feel is unexpectedly flipped on its own head, blossoming into an intoxicating and emotive synth melody.

Meanwhile, Rubber Dog stays true to its absurdist title, as Welsh dials his analogue assistance to a head-spinning maximum, pulping out an unwieldy jam that blends industrial and electro influences to riveting and darkly psychedelic effect.
