A real music freak, who has mixed her fave electro, idm and techno tracks since 2005. She is the former co-editor of Selection Sorted TechnoPodcast, has been a guest in many-many radioshows and podcasts, she has played in many clubs and festivals of Hungary (Kontra, wndrlnd, Corvintető, Müszi, Kuplung, R33, Egál, S.U.N festival, Ozora ect...) and also abroad, like Croatia, Slovakia, Austria, Romania and France. She is currently based in Nijmegen (NL).
She is a resident dj at Open Source Radio in Nijmegen.

Guiding us into another week of extraordinary expeditions is the DJ, multidisciplinary artist, and LYL radio resident from Estonia based in our hometown; Julia Mira. Inspired by her background in painting, as a DJ she takes up music as her palette. Her selections are utterly unpredictable, layering bold brushstrokes of bass with euphoric rave climaxes and leftfield experimentalism. Approaching each set like a canvas, a blend of sensations is evoked, leaving sensual, imaginative space for lucid dreams, vivid stories, and an air of mystery to arise.

In between her bi-monthly show Mothernism on LYL, her frequent features on RRFM & Future Intel, donning the mantle of playing at the Red Light Radio of Dekmantel 2019 & furiously reheating that feat again two years later at Selectors, you catch a glimpse of why we have come to adore her so much here and you instantly know we have left episode 244 of the series in the most caple of hands. Second one for our new OYE podcast series is our good friend MEJLE. Since some year´s we are working with him now as he is always bringing the newest hotest Mechatronica stuff to our shop.

MEJLE is a DJ and co-owner of Mechatronica - the Berlin based record label and collective, founded in 2012. Mechatronica releases music from an umbrella of artists across their labels, and holds club night residencies across Berlin for the past decade. 

His rugged and dynamic approach to DJing blends with a decade-long passion for collecting music and mixing records, to produce energetic sets that surf across electro, acid, EBM, techno, breaks, jungle, chicago and detroit sounds, italo, new beat, wave and everything in between.

Creator of electronic folksong and detective noir, Ali Renault has continued to release music under various guises now for over 20 years. Born in Bristol and eventually residing in Chester in the late 80s, his musical upbringing was everything from synth pop to metal to acid house & techno. A deep connection with Italo disco in the early naughties kept Ali busy for some time and has since released a solo album and a number of EPs under different guises, Cestrian, Parasols & of course his Ali Renault alias as well as starting his own labels, Vivod and Hearse putting out fresh music from all walks of the electro galaxy. 
You can catch Ali playing regularly in his hometown of Margate.

Which artists has influenced you the most?

- That's a tough one as there are so many. I guess the first band I really got into was Metallica. This was back in 85 and of course these days they are nothing like the band they used to be, sadly but I can't deny they had a huge impact on me back then. Black Sabbath too. Then, in later years I got into electronic music via detroit techno, artists like Jeff Mills, Surgeon, UR etc. were a big influence and it was around this time I sold a lot of my guitar equipment to buy my first synthesizers in an attempt to make techno.

What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future?

- Lot's on the go at the moment. I have a Cestrian ep coming out on Dalmata Daniel, which is a split release with Roberto Auser. A couple more Renault productions being released on compilations later in the year. Me and Sebastian Muravchik are releasing our 2nd Heartbreak album this year, only 15 years after our debut, Lies :-) My wife and I are releasing an album with our new project, Body Double this year and my Kosmische band, AUTOHAUs are releasing our first album next month on Ombrelle Concrete Records.

Which artists/labels is more relevant to you now?

- I have to say the most relevant resource for me over the last 2 decades is probably Holland's Intergalactic FM station. There's rarely a day that goes by without me tuning in to one of their 3 channels. If you haven't tuned in yet then I thoroughly recommend you do. https://www.intergalactic.fm/

What inspires you now to create music?

- Mainly my peers. They keep me on my toes.  My location plays a big part these days. I lived in the city for too long and was suffocated by life there. Now I'm lucky to live by the sea where there is a nice community of like minded freaks to feed off and I have the headspace and time to delve into more projects.
