‘Laura’ is a song inspired by another song I wrote as a Jim Morrison obsessed teenager about his school friend, Laura, with whom I walked home from school. Entitled ‘Ship in the Night’, the original song has Laura cast as Thor’s mistress as she battles overcome the heartache and misery she is suffering. ‘Laura’ is me wondering, years later, whether she was ever able to escape the “dark angels” that hounded her during her salad days and find the happiness and love she craved.

‘Laura’ is backed with ‘Sunny Apocalypse’, a quirky reflection on the early part of the Covid pandemic in the form of a disaster movie dream in which Burton and co-star Holliday Grainger find themselves dodging ‘giant globs of Covid raining from the sky’.

Silent Phone Again

This is a song that originated with Steve of Steve's Planet. He came up with a really cool guitar instrumental and the vocals, which he is very passionately singing,  while travelling through the primordial forests of Central Europe and shared it with all of us. I added the bass and the electric piano. Tez (Llanpsych) added the really cool guitar parts that sound like orchestral violins. Ken (K2 and the Three, and K2 and the Four) added the perfectly complimentary rolling drums. Stephen (TexMex Shaman) added the awesome, trippy sitar and pulled the whole thing together as an expert producer and mixer. Tez also mastered it. Hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we did making it.
