Greetings and welcome from Axces. We're a small local Copenhagen community of friends and curious souls. This is our very first record. 

The record was created in 2017 at the professional facilities we've come to know as Nordvest Auto. On both tracks, you'll hear a lot of drums, some bass, effects, samples, vocals and sounds from beyond, we don't know how to describe. They've been tested on various sound systems during the past year, and we can ensure you that a flat EQ and max volume will suit the tracks almost anywhere. 

We really hope you enjoy our effort. If you should ever find yourself in Copenhagen Axces will provide counselling and guidance at own risk.

We are proud to present the second record on Axces, which comes from our close friend Frits Caroe aka Popmix. Recorded in 2017 in the Nordvest Auto facilities, the three tracks on his debut give a sense of Frits' mastery of effective, simplistic melodies.

The A-side kicks off with Funtema, a candy like IDM tune whose strong melodic core will be stuck in your head for days. Next up is Klub Frimis, a Detroit meets Mario Kart DJ tool that we guarantee will rock any party. Finally on the B-side we have Teenage Club Fantasy, whose acidic bassline and dubby stabs will help ease that comedown.

Popping The Cherry of 2020’s latest modern-contemporary record label; Step Ball Chain, is Roza Terenzi with “Stylish Tantrum”. Suggestive title to set the tone; the 5 track EP insisting sharp, sassy, high-tempered bombs with full bodied bounce. Unexpected tempo and timing variations, flared-up bpms, half time drum cuts and slicked modular flourishes, Terenzi’s signature cheek ramps up to an extra twisted club climate, atmospheric and evocative in texture as always. Featuring collaborations with D. Tiffany and Saoirse, the release covers extended dancefloor territory, assertive anthems delivering femme finesse, choreographed to perfection.

The A side fires up with an exuberant 4-by-4-2-the-floor routine, Cosmology. Vocal cuts from the queen Fiorella, billowing bells and dramatic synthetic sweeps to form fluidity over the tight bouncy low end. Whilst flirtatious melodic notions come and go, zip-lock percussion and commanding drumwork hold it down; squeaky steeze not-so-politely letting you know what’s to come. Deceivingly dubwise introductions soon furiously interrupted with Stylish Tantrum. Ricochet rhythms and bone breaking clap backs echo around your head, electrifying percussive fills and vocal spills snatching your attention before the everything glues together vicious harmony, baseline pulsating underneath a whiplash drum display - one for the dangerous deejays.

Chosen Family Feud opens the B side, a collab with seasoned associate @d-tiffany, showing off a bossy stomping brigade. Mumbling voices, waspy sirens and spooked out synth lines haunt the beginnings of the track, stripping back to a bassline breakdown before wailing vocals and clattered percussion take over, cymbals bursting. B2 is a moment to reflect, Illusions brings the energy down, low slung metallic backbeats thrown over encompassing, effortless pads and soaring resonance. The downtempo atmosphere crept up on by a double time d’n’b re-jig, softly gliding in over the growling sub, chopped breaks reflecting and falling. Closing out the record is another joint effort, recorded in Melbourne with @saoirsemusic ; Sxc saloon dashing back to the dancefloor, hot and deep. Throbbing bass married with slick galloping drums, sensuous fleeting whispers looping to draw you into hypnosis before a climactic tempo plummet intended to turn heads.

STEP01 is kicking its heels up, stomping, strutting and trailblazing for what’s to come.

Type “Was Joan of Arc” into Google and the suggested endings for this statement give you an accurate gauge of her place in pop culture: “Catholic” / “a nun” / “canonised” / “a prophet” / “French” / “a witch” and so on. Related questions to “What were Joan of Arc’s last words” on the info-sharing site Quora include “Was Joan of Arc bisexual” and “Was Joan of Arc simply crazy?” Everyone seems to agree this person was burned at the stake in 1431, but beyond that, Joan’s narrative is an enigma. It is this lack of definition that the production duo Pillow Queen harnessed for their second release, Burn Me Up. Inverting the image of the devout Christian girl, the Joan who stands as this record’s heroine was a heretic, a transvestite, most definitely a dyke and a hot femme-top at that. 
 
Opening up the A-side, the title track is a call— a battle cry, but also a summoning. In a time of need one calls upon their patrons and elders from history; a DJ beckons and gathers dancers to the floor; prayer and sweat go hand and hand. A traditional Irish bodhrán drum beats out the first rhythms, joined by a steamy vocal sample that gets caught, chopped, and soon “Burns Me Up” is pumping along with organ chords and distorted keys. Pivoting away from the 4/4 format, “Submission” is a textured, downtempo slowburner, with close-mic’d vocals from Vani-T and the D. Tiffany’s deft drum programming. When the choral pads come in, there’s en echo of the 1990s German worldbeat project Enigma, with its Gregorian chants and flutes laid on top of lounge beats—here, though, the chorus is stripped of kitsch, only driving the track deeper into a mood. 
 
If Burn Me Up’s sequence of tracks is read as a kind of narrative, they seem to tell the story of Joan’s last moments. “Burn Me Up” is, frankly, heat—aggressive, the high-end crackles and the bass puts a pyre under one’s feet. “Submission” is like an exhale, a giving-in to death’s grip; there is, along with the sensuous tread, a melancholy. It only makes sense that one flips the record to “Resurrection”, which rolls in a tremolo’d wail of pitched vocals for 30 seconds before a kick drum begins the 141-BPM march. The percussion is central here, as the track shifts between polyrhythms like a range of resuscitations, varied heartbeats. “Salvation” closes the record, again dialing back the tempo to the deep nod of dub. To no surprise, the scene of redemption here is not one of sunlit cherubs—the church bell sample tolls one strike every few measures of bass-throb and shadow, while Vani-T intones, “Then he lay down and died”. Death can be salvation to some; living as many selves, living in contradiction, is a saving grace to many more.

The third edition of the Exit Planet Earth vinyl series features four more exclusive intergalactic selections from Ralph Lawson. 'Exit Planet Earth - Nitrogen' features a selection of pioneers and up and coming talent. First up is a true legend of the UK electro scene, Keith Tenniswood aka 'Radioactive Man', who creates a constantly evolving sonic trip called 'One Out'. Watch out for the surprise sting in it's tail too. Sharing the A side is the incredibly talented Spanish producer Annie Hall, arriving fresh from her stunning CPU releases. Annie creates melodic landscapes, layered with intricate string orchestration driven by deep bass.A

On the flip side Helsinki-based Sunny Seppa aka Sansibar shows exactly why he is fast becoming hot property following his immense debut album on FTP - 'Targeted Individuals'. Sansibar brings the record back to the 4/4 with a flowing yet subtle working of synths and pads. Also based in Finland yet hailing from Holland is VC-118A, who previously caught our attention with his track 'PCB' a firm favourite at Exit Planet Earth events. VC118-A delivers some deep space dub with expertly crafted production centring on low end theory.

Salamanda believes every sound has beauty, and they love to collect & create music from original field recordings from the world around them.

Kicking off 2021 in KOC’s teeming keepnet comes courtesy of Roza Terenzi & Fantastic Man under the guise of production unit B’Zircon. 

Merging the pair’s brill touch of trance-suffused elevation and ankle-twisting dynamics, ‘Lazulination’ EP finds the two producers unleashing a steadfast triad of genre-unbound, organic-grown jams out the deepest blue. 

Pulling out a savvy mix of muscular breaks and hi-NRG shuffle, the ‘90s atmospheric techno-laced roller ‘Azure’ revs up towards upper, euphoria-inducing layers of the ravey continuum. 

Breath-hold diving into lush cerulean ocean floors via white sand beachscapes, ‘Ultramarine’ has us speeding up the Gold Coast’s underwater canyons at full throttle. 

Topping off the release is Perko’s crossover of both tunes as one, taking us on a rivetingly soothing, bass-enhanced downtempo ride that shall please both ambient heads and laid-back dubs revellers in unison.

B'Zircon - Lazulination EP w/ Perko Remix (OYSTER26 - Snippets)

@kaspermarott will release his debut album ‘Full Circle’ in January on his own Axces Recordings imprint. The album features 11 tracks that explore different genres and moods, while remaining within Kasper’s colourful universe.

Full Circle demonstrates Kasper’s ability to play with layers and structure. The tracks are built from complex layered harmonies, looped melodies and different rhythmic textures. Kasper’s intuitive approach to production, in addition to the inspiration he finds in other genres, his local community and society as a whole, has resulted in an album that feels fresh and unique.

Kasper Marott - Full Circle Snippets

In recent times, Space Cadets have taken the scene by storm. Based in Leeds, UK, the two are quickly becoming synonymous with a modern and exciting tech/trancey style of production. Both are also residents/co-run the party/mix series @on-rotation-music

Marlon (@liseneuk) & Adam (@adampits) have pioneered a new and unique sound, inspired by elements of 90's and early 2000's tech/trance/prog and electronica but with their own signature touches and embedded with a distinctly UK vibe. With respective releases on Planet Euphorique, Banoffee Pies, X-Kalay & Holding Hands, not only are both incredibly talented producers in their own right, but this mix is proof that their ability to select and compile a compelling set is just as impressive. 

This mix is what we all need after a long 2020.

Salt Mines / Life Sciences Division label-head Rudolf C joins us for both our first EPs of the year. "Gamma!" hits hard across 4-tracks spanning techy-acid, futuristic garage, and peak-time rollers. This is the first coming together of label and artist in the form of an EP - following on from Rudolf C's stellar contribution to our latest release in the War Child Fundraiser VA series.

The release of "Gamma!" falls hand-in-hand with the rebirth of Craigie Knowes' in 2021 which sees our imprint leave Glasgow and return to our hometown of Perth, the opening of our new studio / label-hub and a move to self-distribution, operating primarily from Bandcamp for the first time since our label launched back in 2015.
