Dub Techno Blog Guest Mix 001 - Prolifik Wave

The dulcet sounds drifted in through the window, carried by a soft breeze from the west of the town. Every morning it provided an organic wake up call; a sweet soundtrack to life in this quaint little place. Its source remained unknown - even if if you followed the path towards it, soon it evaporated as if it were emitting from the air itself. There were theories and speculations; some said it was the ghost of a mythical siren sent to lure in sailors from their ships, others maintained that it was simply the way the wind echoed off the cliff face. But ultimately there was no explanation needed, they counted themselves lucky to wake to these sweet sonics each and every day.

Under his Tolouse Low Trax moniker, Paris-based producer Detlef Weinrich has become revered for his psychedelic compositions, often stretched into unfurling opuses. For his fifth album Leave Me Alone - which is set for release on his regular haunt, Hamburg's Bureau B - he experiments with a more playful sound, matching dub and hip hop influences with raw, tribalistic electronica. Amongst the LP's 13 tracks is 'Ossia', a collaboration with Rome-based singer and producer Eva Geist who layers a political spoken passage from Italian poet Pier Paolo Pasolini over Detlef's lumbering electronics.

Michel Banabila, born 1961, is a sound artist, composer, and
producer. Banabila has released music since 1983 and has produced
musical scores for numerous films, documentaries, theatre plays and
choreographies. His music varies from minimal loop-based
electronica, fourth world, and neoclassical pieces, to drones,
experimental ambient, and punk-as-fuck tape music. His work have
been released internationally by labels like Bureau B (DE), Eilean
Rec (FR), Knekelhuis (NL), Pingipung (DE) and Séance Centre (CA)

John Talabot and Axel Boman teamed up in 2017 for their R&S debut ’The Night Land’ where they got to flex their creative muscles over eight tracks of rich synth jams.  

The two electronic artists have been independently successful in their respective careers, but as Pitchfork expressed in their glowing review “Their collective output doesn’t sound much like either’s work; it doesn’t even necessarily reflect the thin, convex sliver where their interests overlap. Instead, they’ve hit upon something new.”

This new sound also proved to be a hit with the likes of Mojo, Phonica, XLR8R, Self Titled and DJ Mag all including it their annual best of lists.

The artists have now handpicked four artists to create their own vision of the Talaboman sound.  
Superpitcher, Samo DJ, Luke Slater under his L.B. Dub Corp alias and Powder have all seriously delivered the goods.
