The latest RSMIX comes from Joiah, the Italian/Colombian multidisciplinary artist based in Amsterdam.

Joiah is now living in Amsterdam, pursuing her career in the Dutch capital, combining her knowledge in engineering and working as a music director/editor & fashion sound designer for Numéro Netherlands magazine. A multidisciplinary at heart, Joiah sings on her tracks and produces her music. She is now part of Klassified Records, a Dutch label by Thomas & Julien De Bie (Parallelle). Joiah’s sound is warm, gritty, and peachy, fluctuating between house breaks and minimal with soulful vocals. Her DJ sets will incorporate many of the latter and surprisingly shift to a faster pace of shades of techno. A juxtaposition of 90’s grooves, sensual ethereal vocals, and deep synthesized sounds. Her music is meant to be listened to in various scenarios and at different times of the day, not only on the dancefloor.

Episode 5 of the "Waiting" musical series for Radio Alhara.

We took our guest Horo for a trip to the past, back to the origins of the Anisetta project. Together, we spent one more night of smokes and low lights in our dusty shared room in Beirut, which seemed a space station from which to explore different musical galaxies. Waiting for the dawn to come, we blended deep house, downtempo and dub, with pinches of spices from Arab traditions, Turkey and as far as India.

Considered as ''the romanian Detroit electro / techno pioneer'' (Igloo Magazine), he is signed to some legendary labels from Detroit such as Matrix Records, Twilight 76 Records, Databass Records, Detroit Techno Militia, Detroit Underground, Cratesavers International, Visillusion, Detroit Techno Records, 6ONE6 as well as Holland's iconic MOS Recordings. Also Melodymathics, Bass Agenda Recordings, Remote Influence, Land Of Dance. Der Mix ist etwas eklektischer von den Tempi und vermutlich schon spürbar dunkler und zackiger, als meine letzten Mixe. In Gedanken war ich beim Aufnehmen irgendwie schon viel bei euch auf Trakt 1 und 3 unterwegs, geplant war das allerdings nicht…
 
The mix varies a little more with the speeds and I guess it also got a bit darker and uptempo than my previous recordings. Apparently while recording the mix I’ve been more present at floor 1 and 3 in the IFZ, somehow this got out of my control.
 
// Wie würdest du deine Verbindung zu Leipzig & zum IfZ beschreiben? 
// How would you describe your connection to Leipzig and IfZ ? 

Als eine sehr enge. In Leipzig habe ich lange gelebt und dort u.a. auch mit dem Auflegen angefangen. Generell hat mich die Stadt in meinem Zugang zu elektronischer Musik und Clubkultur deutlich geprägt. Das IFZ ist da auf jeden fall mehr als beispielhaft, jedoch nicht nur als Club-Institution - ich denke da auch an die früheren IFZ-Zeiten, als der ursprüngliche Kern damals illegale Open Airs und Partys in alten Fabriken und anderen abwegigen Orten organisiert hatte. 
 
As a very close one. I lived in Leipzig for quite some time and also started DJing there. In general the city had a very essential imprint on my approach to electronic music and club culture. The IFZ played a big role for me too, however not just as an institution as a club - I’m also thinking back to the early times when the primary collective had been realising many memorable open airs and illegal partys in old fabrics and other abandoned places.
