Petter Wahlbäck is an award-winning Swedish composer and sound designer currently working out of Chicago. He moved to the USA in 1996 to pursuit a degree in rock/fusion guitar, only to realize that it was in music composition his true passion was. Petter’s main areas of focus are music for media and performing arts. Over the years, he has written music and created sound design for numerous award-winning films, dance performances, and theater productions. Among his sound design/music credits are Jeff-Award winning Requiem for a Heavyweight, By the Bog of Cats, Ada and the Engine, and Vanya on the Plains (The Artistic Home Theater), Defacing Michael Jackson and The Book of Merman (Flying Elephant Productions), and The My Way Residential (The Irish Theatre).  Film scores include Asymptotes, Canvas, and Mother’s Milk, by Ed Pionke, Into the Wake by John Mossman, as well as the critically acclaimed documentary Without Charity by Paul Lyzun.  

As many other media composers, Petter have a background in rock and pop music. Growing up in Sweden, he played guitar, bass, and drums in several bands of various genres. In the US he played guitar and recorded with indie rockers Intelligent Dennis and Hedonists, Maybe in the early 2000’s.
