Guapo (Aleck Rand & Axel Weiß)

"Young and Fine" was written by the great musician and composer Joe Zawinul - it appeared first in 1978 on 'Mr. Gone' by Weather Report. In my opinion one of the most underrated tunes of this amazing band.

In this duo from the early '80s we mostly performed our own compositions but also tried occasionally to honor our inspirators of the time - and Joe was one of the most important. We both loved his timeless piece and we spontaneously improvised live on it at a little hippie festival in summer 1985. Andy's foot-tapping is good to hear and also the occasional wows of some little babies who probably enjoyed this experience most of all listeners (there were not too many).  
This is just live music from my old tape cassettes archive - so it comes naturally in a  limited sound quality (including all our countless errors and imperfections). May a bit of the old feeling come still through today - over the times, which were beautiful exciting back then.

Young and Fine (comp. by Joe Zawinul)

A little soundcheck with my historic Framus archtop from 1958. The guitar is solid built and strongly arched. The subsequently installed AZ48 pickup fits perfectly on this old but well-preserved instrument. The string distance to the fretboard is high, as the most guitars of that time didn't have a tension rod (means: not too easy to play them today :). But on the other hand this guitar is very lightweight and has a stunning natural feel in the hands of the player. Well, this little improvisation came out while my first try with it.
