This is a Slayer preset I created for a project as I couldn't find anything on the Fractal Audio forum or Axe-Change. Quite pleased with how it turned out. I recommend throwing a GEQ between the Drive and Amp blocks and tweaking to suit your guitar/pickups.

Drums  programmed in Logic X and run through Superior Drummer 2. Dual guitars panned L+R with minimal post-processing, a HPF at ~80Hz and some mids notched out. Mild saturation, compression and EQ on the mix bus.

EPISODE 4 - Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg in Imperfect is Perfect

Is a network -- whether a crowd or blockchain-based entity -- going to replace the firm anytime soon? Not yet, argue Andrew McAfee and Erik Brynjolfsson in the new book Machine, Platform, Crowd. But that title is a bit misleading, because the real questions most companies and people wrestle with are more "machine vs. mind", "platform vs. product", and "crowd vs. core". They're really a set of dichotomies.

Yet the most successful systems are rarely all one or all the other. So how then do companies make choices, tradeoffs in designing products between humans and machines, whether it's sales people vs. chatbots, or doctors vs. AIs? How can companies combine the fundamental building blocks of businesses -- such as network effects, platforms, crowds, and more -- in a way that lets them get ahead on the chessboard against the Red Queen? And then finally, at a macro level, how do we plan for the future without falling for the "fatal conceit" (which has now, arguably flipped from radical centralization to radical decentralization) ... and just run a ton of experiments to get there?

We (Frank Chen and Sonal Chokshi) discuss all this and more with Brynjolfsson and McAfee, who also founded MIT's Initiative on the Global Economy -- and previously wrote the popular The Second Machine Age and Race Against the Machine. Maybe there's a better way to stay ahead without having to run faster and faster just to stay in place like Alice in a tech Wonderland.

Superior Drummer 3: Thrash metal preset (download)

First shot at recording so there are some glitches. Got to know Garage Band today. This is a simpler version of So Good To Me by Cory Asbury.

So Good To Me

Playing over a favorite Satriani track... no EQ or processing on the solo guitar, only a hint of bus compression for glue. The mild delay is the onboard FX and recording was via the Katana's direct stereo out into an Audient interface.

This little battery-powered amp is perfect for practice. The crunch and brown channels retain clarity past 12 o' clock and volume is cranked. Only drawback, if I must be critical, is the overdose of mids.

Recorded directly on the JS-10 over a backing track with no post-processing.

The trick to getting a good metal tone out of this unit is setting amp gain low (30-40%), turning the compressor off, adding a TS with 0 gain/level @ 70%, and cutting the EQ level to -2 or -3 once you've tweaked the frequencies.
