Incense For The Modern Professional

'This Is The New Centipede' is a revamped mix of Centipede Hz by Animal Collective.
I tried to mix the studio versions with various live performances to create a rawer sound and a live stage vibe while mantaining that chunky textural nature of the album 
 
Mad props to: 
Patrick Cederberg and Walked Like A Dog for Tomboiled and Reaper Madness respectively. Had these madmen not created their mixes, Repainting Along and This Is The New Centipede wouldn't have been a thing.
And of course I couldn't forget about all the bootlegers who recorded the live shows! There's a lot of bootleg stuff in here, so you made this happen people!

I do not take any credit for the songs, all of the music was made by Animal Collective (and Black Dice if we include the samples I used for Peacebone), I just violently mashed them all together.

Now allow me to ramble for a bit. 
This is the 3rd time I'm putting this out there and perhaps that's 3 times too many. This mix isn't perfect, it's a VERY amateur piece of work and if someone asked me what version they should listen to, I'd say just listen to the original CHz. 
But at the same time, this has been an amazing learning experience. I started this project knowing absolutely nothing about audio mixing, I didn't know what it would take to make all these dense walls of sound listeneable..., I really couldn't have picked a more complicated album to mix haha. 
It took me so long to figure this one out that I even managed to finish a different, even bigger project which is Repainting Along.
Now I can say that I'm somewhat satisfied with the result and that I can leave it be. I tried my hardest to make every detail stand out, to remove all the crappy brick-walls of waveforms my 2 previous versions had and to just make this pop hard in a way that doesn't pop your eardrums. I hope that my efforts weren't in vain, that you can enjoy this mix and perhaps view Centipede Hz, one of my favorite albums, in a different light. 

If there's anyone still reading, imma tell you this. If you wanna get into making music but don't know where to start I HIGHLY encourage to try making your own versions of the songs you like. Doesn't have to be an in-depth cover or a full blown remix that rearranges the whole track. It can be something as stupid as layering 2 versions of a song, slowing the song down and slapping on a reverb, or looping that one guitar solo for 5 minutes. I assure you, your brain will start connecting things together and it'll all click.
