Here I sit in this white room, just a kid with a marshmallow,
Told to wait for something great, if I resist this soft, sweet fellow.
Tick-tock goes the little clock, and my tummy's in rebellion,
"It's just one puff of sugary stuff," says the devil to this small hellion.

Big dreams, big schemes, all hanging on a mallow!
Can I wait, or is it fate, to snatch you up and bellow,
"Life is sweet, and oh-so fleet, let's eat before we're yellow!"

Now I'm grown, the stakes have flown, from candies to grander visions,
Choices weigh like gourmet buffets, life's a chef with tough decisions.
Should I splurge, or should I purge, my cravings for instant pleasure?
With every bite, might lose or might gain, a treasure beyond measure.

Then comes a day, in a soft dismay, I grab that marshmallow,
Breaking fast, the die is cast, "It's fine," I shrug, quite mellow.
As shadows stretch and twilight nears, I ponder paths I've chosen,
With sticky chin, a knowing grin, life's not just black and white, it's golden.

A World We Share

And so last night, I didn't sleep. I was counting sheeps.
I went out downtown, looking around, as a vain leap. 
I saw a big weeping willow in Clifford Street.
And down below was a strange fellow. His name was Mo.

He told me "I know, where you have to go, if you don’t want to blow.
I was right there, during the Dark Year. I will show you where. »

We went to a club. It was not far. I took a Tzar.
There was a piano. Mo sat in front. He played some Bach.
As we were out, the sun was rising, we went to the sea.
We settled down on rasping pebbles and then he told me.

"You see right there, under Centaurus, there’s a lighthouse.
Count until nine, then open your eyes, you'll know what to find »

That’s when I knew, I had to go, to the Emerald Fjord.
I turned my eyes slowly toward Mo. And he was gone.

It's a long road to the Emerald fjord. 
 I’m in a hurry to reach the shore.
My mind is focused. I need to drive more. 
2000 miles, it's worth the effort.
