Feed The Beast (Deluxe)

She was afraid of the ocean that threatens her very existence so she fashioned all rocks and clays to surround her pink castle in the sand-maze. Later that same day she made a vast network of water tunnels to subdue each pounding of the waves. That girl grew up and became a mother, and sang bed time stories for all her sons. A rock surrounded by water, she is the first woman who made a deal with Seeth. Her sons, had sons and their sons had sons too, they all became her loyal followers, Earth mutts, who fetches, heel, and retrieves in a wave of her delicate hand, until she met her match in a body of another woman who have an entirely different plan. Their daughter's daughters became  two powerful witches, Beatrix Strife of Arachnid and Pearl Chaos of Rum Al Khali who is about to settle an ancient feud that started in Constantinople in 1453 while they are both summoned by the very evolution of monsters they have created themselves--The White Warlocks of the Norse. While they are also being hunted down by the Hollow House. If I remember quite clearly, there  was a witch hunt, when the first of Beatrix and Pearl's kind where   persecuted in Europe, when witches were caught, tried, convicted, hanged on a noose, and burned in the imperial lordship of Wiesensteig in southwestern Germany in 1563 in a pamphlet called "True and Horrifying Deeds of 63 Witches". Within a century, witch hunts were popular in the kingdoms and most of the accused were executed by burning at the stake, stoning to death, public beatings, beheading or hanging on a noose. Single women, widows and gypsies were  targeted. Between the years 1500 and 1660, up to 90,000 suspected witches were put to death in Europe. Any woman living alone who owns a black cat, a cauldron, bottles of potion, and a broom stick, where dragged out of their long locks to the village plaza, where they where all scalped with a sword of the King. Every year, they light a candle for all the 90,000 women  during the day of Seeth the Trustworthy, when the moon devours all the stars. The smoke forms into a knot that ties all that remained to the dirt where they stand, endlessly walking in circles, one massive lifeless walls to the threatening ocean and waiting for their lighthours to end. A destination for everyone who believes in Seeth or the Life Maker himself. All the 109 Billion people who have lived and died over the course of 192,000 years now congregates in an air of nothingness and kovilfi, witches today calls it Rivers of Niserjakima, where the first woman, the second, the third, and the fourth, now lives below it.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Deaf Safari is an audio collage of subjects that interest me and speak of the world I live in.
It is an album composed of sampled recordings from the media landscape that has been the soundtrack to my life over the last ten years.

The most important development in my current music and as can be heard on Deaf Safari has been my understanding of the beauty and power of the spoken word. I have experienced severe indifference to contemporary pop and electronic music as a whole over the last many years, as I have felt that social comment of any relevance has been ignored by music in general.
Deaf Safari attempts to bring sociopolitical comment into my music without taking any specific stand.
Sampled outside of musical influence directly from the news; from preacher sermons or from contemporary African documentaries.
I have finally created a story with sound that I feel accurately conveys my personal experience with the African world I live in.

My musical influences on this album lie mostly with local Kwaito house. Deaf Safari is an experiment within certain boundaries of the 4/4 genre, to create my own South African "house" album.
I am proud and inspired about the South African Kwaito house scene.
However, as with my first three albums, "Thin Shoes In June“ (2001) - "4/4 Down The Stairs“ (2002) and "Dark Days Exit“ (2005), I am still interested in making strange and evocative music.

American Roots music from the earlier periods of the 20th century has deeply resonated with me during the making of this album.
The incredible field recordings by Alan Lomax of Negro prison and chain gang work songs, and the
beautiful early recordings of artists such as Leadbelly have had a major influence on Deaf Safari.

I am truly excited to release this album and to start performing in the music world again. It has been ten years since I released "Dark Days Exit , and although I have been purposefully absent from the music world, I have none the less never stopped making music.
I feel that I have finally arrived at a mature and challenging stage in my pursuit of making emotional music of relevance .

‘Souns - Sun Inside The Sun (The Remixes)’ is a collection of 4 unique reworks of Souns’ original song ‘Sun Inside The Sun’ taken from the Aquamarine album originally released on December 2017. It's forthcoming on Subtempo, and will be out in May 31st. 

Heralding on relationships that have developed over the years, @michaelred handpicked @synkro, @loscil and @phaeleh to remix his ambient material that he composes under the @souns-3 alias. Michael has shared the studio, or the stage with all three of them in multiple occasions, making this collaboration a natural continuation of their work together. 

Loscil sets the tone with the first remix. The ambient music maestro, who is widely recognized as the king of dynamics, continues to redefine the boundaries of the genre with this one. Loscil’s remix allows time for the main idea of his song to develop, with mysterious melodic hints as to what’s to come. In his usual fashion, the use of space and deep pulsating rhythm compound, driving the track into an entirely new landscape, transporting the listener into far away northern lands, where whales live and fog covers the calm oceans.
