He petitioned for love, to receive and relay
At best, I could conjure an objective dissonance
Cloak it in lust and love myself through you

I mean, literally,
You would have to travel backwards through this
Ice cold bitter self-sufficiency
And pump life into a tarred-black innocence
That cannot bear to even admit to the hurt
Nor entertain forgiveness

I convinced myself,
This faux-optimistic cynicism
I wear is just being "realistic"

I have issues

But you could call it inquisitive
Since I am always questioning
New ways to prove my intelligence
Vain attempts to fulfill this deficiency
This abysmal longing for attention inside
That needs more than more empty implications
Those pregnant spaces
Where unvoiced promises
Fall into lies

That draws back in disgust
From the double-edged sword of human touch
Because of the usual definition in petitions for love!

Don't give me some play on passion
That curls up and dies when the sun hits it!

I need forever
Or at least try to bet against time

You ask me, what's wrong?
And I'm crying inside because I want
What you say you want so bad
But outside, I'm strong

I don't know, I answer, honest

You tell me, I didn't expect that,
You always seem to have this grip on how you feel.

No, this is

Betting against the temporal on forever

Starlit clouds dangle barely over our existence,
I whisper into a daisy to the tune of a song,

“Surely, this is a poem,”
I reply, lying backwards, staring into night sky
With every silence, we chase eternity
Fingertips racing shadows down skin
With an urgency that would make even God
Redefine sin.

Paint you in sand blindfolded with no hands
Sing you, loud and cacophonous like spirituals
When the spirit moves deep down in your stomach
Up through your soul
Rendering tears and trembling

Is love, life, and passion personified

Between the anxious curves of our lips
