About this journey :
Oh the lovely Hawaiian guitar melodies, lazy languishing slide guitars, dubby reverbs and echoey female voices, quirky sounds and unexpected breaks into traditional Polynesian songs, hypnotic tribal drumming and light headed disco airs… As intoxicating as a tropical cocktail, these elements of summer charmed and lifted my spirit.
I’m gifting them all to you here in this playful psychedelic mix.
It kicks off with the enchanting, freshly released, dub version of Pretty Boy, a track by TIGER ON THE MOON, a band led by performer and producer Louie My, in which I have the pleasure to play synth. As the mix progresses things get increasingly dancy until it lands softly on my favorite slow track of the year: Sim Sim Sim by SIMPLE SYMMETRY (featuring Abrao).

Listening is recommended in the sun, preferably with friends or future friends!

About Tamara :
Like Marc Bolan’s Cosmic Dancer, in all likelihood, Tamara came out of the womb dancing. With older brothers in garage bands, the walls of household shook all through the 80’s.  
Later, her amorous relationships were based on shared passion for music. That’s how she was introduced to the miracle of late 20th century music and its Kaleidoscopic diversity, from Sati to Flaming Lips, Neil Young to Kraftwerk and Funkadelic to Sphongle.
Much later, stranded on some Caribbean Island and weary of Reggaeton, she finally put all that musical influence to good use and cut her teeth as a DJ on the island’s beach gatherings and Full Moon parties. Her sets are an unexpected combination of electronic, psychedelic and bouncy cuts, infused with every genre from funk, to ethnic folk, rock and disco.
She also plays synthesizer and sings backs in husband’s project Tiger On The Moon. From the womb to the tomb is how she describes her dedication in making people open there hearts and DANCE!

One hand on the controls and the other hanging on tight. DJ'ing on top of a fluffy pink bunny at 5mph down the streets of Black Rock City shortly after sunset was one helluva ride to remember! Wide-eyed and big-eared BRC residents hopped on board as we made our way out to the open playa. The crew pulled up to a lioness with a human torso blowing fire out of its paws and I rolled out this playful side of the Apukuna sound. Bounce, smile and bounce some more friends. This is the recording of my unofficial closing DJ set for Sloth Disco. When the closing DJ found himself with no more Sloth Disco music (aka sexy and slow beats no higher than 110 bpm) I had to jump in the last hour, because you just can't stop a giant cuddle puddle that is 15 mins away from going full-on orgy from platonic coconut oil massages… (Stick until the end to hear the surprise mix that would make Mr. Trent Reznor be proud of how his music was mixed…)   ;)
