 Miguel “Backman” Robbins

	Miguel “Backman” Robbins started his journey into the music industry at a very early age. “As A toddler I was making beats on pots and pans”, declares Robbins. When Backman started rapping as an artist at the age of 14. He started laying his own tracks down in the basement of his home on the family desktop, using Sound Recorder. He would play beats out loud on the speakers and rap over them, while recording everything all at once. Thus he started the engineering process. Backman met fellow producer Paramount at the age of 17. Paramount sent him the Fruity Loops Studio program and the beats began to flow. “I made my first beat on the keyboard. I used Acoustica Mixcraft to record the instruments. The quality wasn’t that good”, says Robbins. This is when Backman realized he had a passion for the production process and the combining of instruments rather than rapping over the beats. Backman states, “I’m more of a behind the scenes type of guy.” At 18 he started to produce his beats and send them to fellow producer Paramount for constructive criticism and advice. “He would encourage me to keep going,” Backman expresses about Paramount. After graduating from Surrattsville high school, Backman started attending a local college majoring in computer engineering. He quickly realized music was his passion and he wanted to pursue his goal to become a producer.
	Years from beating on pots and pans, Backman has already accomplished some of his goals he set for himself. Backman has started his own company Backman Productions, has currently produced close to 1,000 beats of all varieties, and is also working on a compilation CD titled “Capital Punishment.” One of Backman’s many beats was purchased by Patti Barnett, manager of Day Dream Productions. Backman also works closely with indie labels R.A.W (Ready And Willing LLC.), Da Camp, Third Finger Records, as well as Hood Records. Backman is currently producing tracks for the R.A.W mixtape “Street Talk: Chapter One.” Backman also works with local artist in the DC metro area ( ATL, Luck, and more) producing tracks for them.
	“I would like to be the next big producer working with artist from all musical backgrounds,” Robbins conveys. He plans to turn his fresh new company into a production/film empire. He has started producing a few selections to get out. Not only does he plan to have the business be a huge success, he also wants a top notch studio to work in with his artist.
	With all of these ambitions, Backman plans to “ make it happen.” “ I plan to gain all the knowledge I can about the business from reading and researching, as well as developing strong working relationships with people already in the industry,” Backman states when asked about his plan. As an up and coming producer he intends to work diligently to promote himself. He is also working hard to generate as much clientele as possible to build up his ever growing reputation. With no formal musical training, he also mentions, “I would like to continue to master the keyboard as well as learn to play the drums, and bass guitar.” Of course that would be a great advantage for him. With the skills he has already acquired, that would put him in the running for the top spot.
	Someone with his tremendous talent, potential, and determination can only go far. He has all the key elements for a successful producer: a passion for music, an ear for rhythms, and the drive for greatness. If Backman continues on his path, he is destined to rise to the top. With a little help and a foot in the door, he is sure to be a success.
