The Dirtwire/Ram Dass track was built off of a jam that was initially recorded at Echo Mountain studios in Asheville, North Carolina. We felt we had a match when we tried combining it with Ram Dass' description of a  powerful psychedelic experience he had in the Mid-America motel in Salina, Kansas. Something about the cyclical mystery of the harmonic progression and the sound of a vintage Telecaster through a vintage amp seemed to us to resonate with how Ram Dass speaks of the transcendental set within the familiar, Both felt to us like expressions of a spiritual Americana that lies just below the surface of what this country believes itself to be.

As we started to shape the music underneath Ram Dass' story, we began to add new parts to underlie and support the narrative tension. We found that musically, at the point Ram Dass' of surrender and ego death, the underlying tension of the guitar ostinato could rupture to support his realization - and through it an entirely new world of release and realization could be built.

"The foundation of Wild Sweet was born out of a loop pedal improv on a New Year's sunrise set at a small festival many years ago. But the song was fully written during our recording process together in Asheville. Each of us was tasked with bringing two original songs to record. While I had a few options of lullabies to bring, and even started recording 1 of them, I felt something else wanting to come through. Tina encouraged me to keep searching and in the wee midnight hours, I rediscovered this melody from the archives of my recordings. One of our songwriting prompts during our group mastermind had been ‘polishing an old gem’, so I dove into polishing this song seed. The lyrics came swiftly, inspired by the energy of being in the cocoon of staying at home during lockdown, as well as the cocoon of our songwriting immersion, and the magic of recording this album together. It was the final song to be written during this cycle of our collective song-catching journey and captures the essence of what we were gathering. Wild Sweet sings to the emergence of widened wings after a deep season of rest, just as humanity is re-emerging into a new season of becoming." ~ Ayla Nereo

"Name of the Wind came from a moment of being on the California coast and seeing a whale out in the ocean. We had a song prompt that week, to create a wind lullaby. So as I watched the whale, and felt the wind rushing in my ears, I listened. And the notes of the chorus came through clearly, very literally on the wind as it whistled against my ears." ~ Ayla Nereo

This song was written during our first week. Our topic was 'what the nature spirits have to say about coronavirus'. This song was written from the perspective of a person going through the waves and confusion at the onset of lockdown, and receiving sweet messages from the nature spirits in conversation.

This recording is the first 25 minutes of a 3 hour Intrinsic Genius Workshop, recorded in Lisbon June 19/15.

Play this while doing the dishes, puttering,  seated or lying down (savasana) or in a super relaxed position.  


The current training of our mind is to see, identify and control that which is moving.  So every time there is a fluctuation, our minds, identify what it is,  put a label on it so that therefore it is understood. Mind then files it away, or stores it in a jar on a shelf in a closet in our subconscious mind which lives woven through every single layer of our bodymind.  

Here what we will do is open up all the doors and windows.  Open up all the old storage lockers the old jars the old collections, and begin to air out.  Air out old belief patterns,  old imprints,  it’s like spring cleaning.  Your work is to remember the curiosity of arriving to some new place and allowing that place to be as it is. Then you turn a corner and you arrive at a new place, and allow that place to be as it is.   And through the power of your observation and allowance of what is,  you are giving your body-mind the greatest gift of processing information.  Of digesting the back log.  

 I hope you enjoy and manage to clear out a few old junk drawers in the process!

This is a bit of nostalgia and feels of yore. I decided to rebuild/remake the wonderful song entitled "	"Comptine d'un autre été : L'après-midi" by Yann Tiersen. Quite simply, it's some of the most beautiful music I have ever heard. This was a lot of fun to remake. The new title "Avy Jorrāelan" is Valyrian for "I Love You" Hope you enjoy a more modern, beat oriented version of this masterpiece.

𝒮𝓉𝒶𝓎 𝐹𝑜𝒸𝓊𝓈𝑒𝒹 ended up being a pretty personal song to Rachel and I, and then I realized it might be a personal song to most people, because we often negatively tell ourselves what we “should” be doing, and then guilt trip ourselves for when we don’t do it.

Here’s a line from my last verse.

“In order to achieve you gotta fall down first, and in order to feel, you got to appreciate the worst. Because these are the times that you grow before you move, and there are the times that you give up on only you.”
