The development of his unique style is the result of a lifetime of musical influence. Growing up in Louisville Ky were the streets aren't a safe place to live But was homebound safe and away from any negativity. Lived with his beloved caring mother Tonya L. Malone(04/19/68-09/15/06). KushMane was always surrounded by different forms of music his mother enjoyed listing to daily. His mother was a full-time parent of 4 children, resided in a neighborhood called Newburg. 

KushMane had exposed himself to a wealth of music as a child, listening to music artists such as: SnoopDogg, Jay-Z, MacDre, Ludacris, Twista, YoungJeezy, Three6Mafia, Lil'Wayne, Dr.Dre and all of which influenced his development.

His first foray into learning an instrument himself came when he started to play the drumset at the age of 5 years old after sunday morning services at his church in the WestEnd. No one never knew because he didn't want to get in any trouble. Later he began to play alto and baritone sax in school, which he continued playing different types of instruments and music for 8 years before finally picking up a guitar at the age of 13, a decision which he never looked back from.

KushMane’s mother died in September 2006, one month before Kush's 15th birthday. At that following day he had lost his self, started smoking and selling weed to release the anger instead of grieving/crying due to his mother's death. 

As months went by he had met a friend that lived down the street from his father's house in the WestEnd of 45th st. His name was Deonte Aka DBoy, who had made his own beats and produced his own music. So it was here that he developed his musical tastes and interests with DBoy, and it wasn’t long after picking up the knowledge DBoy had taught him as far as making beats. One point in time KushMane used to rap for a few weeks and decided that rapping wasn't for him.

KushMane had started making beats based on his emotions and anger. Most were depression anger and agony from his grief due to his mother's death and all of what he was currently going through in the streets in all of which have had a profound influence on the direction of his musical journey.

After realising that making music was his main goal, he began to showcase his talent in various websites such as Facebook, SoundCloud, Twitter, and SoundClick. Just making sure that his name and music were being heard by as many people as possible. He was slowly noted for the unique style that he brought to the streets, and his popularity began to slowly grow.

As his confidence grew and his style developed listening to Dubstep, Techno, EDM, Ambient, World Ethnic music, and he soon saw a loyal following begin to grow and he began to ring ears locally in the Louisville music scene. His talent with a variety of musical instrumentals only added to his appeal, and his unique superior sound with a twist started to find an appreciative audience.

Here his musical ambitions continued to grow, aided by the culture of Louisville that he found all around him. Although traditional Louisville music is where Kush’s roots lie, but there wasn't plenty on offer in Louisville, so that is to say that he finds himself restricted to this opportunities in the future. In fact his influences are vast, which his CD collection demonstrates, providing literally a room full of music from every corner of the globe.

He is keen to point out that everything he listens to directs his musical development in some way. However, he would certainly include Jimi Hendix, Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, Ray Charles, Isley Brothers and Stevie Wonder as amongst his biggest influences.

Finally, after honing his unique sound over recent years, he is now preparing to release his instrumentals which underlies the changes that KushMane has gone through over recent years. The biggest of these was the ‘NeverGaveMeSh*t-Instrumental’, which has allowed him to develop as a person, and has in turn profoundly aided his musical development.
