Third episode of CALL NOW! (S02) invites Black Seed @blackseedacts, the Turin-based DJ and producer Matteo Viani.

The project is a showcase of his excavations into the realm of tribal-tinged techno and live experimentation. Using the sharp edges of a raw, tribalistic robot funk sound as tools for crafting rhythm, Black Seed generates unsettling yet grooving scenarios, basement bangers of danger dunked in smoke and hypnosis. Angela and Salma Rosa met again last summer to awaken the valleys and soothe the beautiful crowds of Paturia. For their third encounter, the enchantresses will share their favourite down-tempo, post-rock and messy tracks for Mutant Radio.

Mexico based DJ-producer duo Young Drums have been on our radar since long time. Nice to finally reach out. As the winterish cold stays on the Baltic coast, while calendar is already counting the spring days, Young Drums occurs with a waft of warm, sweet smelling air. There are nights carved like the journey of the dead out of the livings' daylight. Mert Seger brings to our senses a two steps ritual for this debut on Kump. « Yétèkpãnra », freely inspired by the funeral rites of the Batãmmariba of Togo and Benin depicted by Dominique Sewane, runs along with no clear beginning nor any end, a sound sketch where the shapeless rustle from the depths of the night meets a procession of artefacts. In this space where the dead finds his way, time lost its importance and the whole piece can go on repeat, endlessly, a prayer wheel to guide whom can only keep his own shadow among the shadows of the other side. Two ceremonies to haunt the silence ; a new state of existence calls for a different listening. Where night becomes the beginning, again.

So I've read an article about how the over media coverage of our lives can results in psychological pain and illness written by Diane Delaurens on the french magazine Usbek & Rica.

The article is based on the hypothesis that the values dictated by the digital era have a higher psychological impact, mainly because of the awareness of global issues as war, climate change & environmental crisis and that the way our societies are organised (our stands for western societies) may induce bigger psychological suffering.

The author first claim that, historically, the values in which the human being believed in had an immutable caracter, because it came from religion and myths. She takes the exemple of Ancient Greece or Australia's aboriginal people whose myths contained a lot of knowledge about nature, law and culture about their society.

Then she shows how these values have slowly evolved for the last two centuries because of the technological discoveries and the expanse of a democratic political system. Basically, the fact that our contemporary societies are in motion, its rules and values are evoluting and therefore are based on values decided by mankind.

I'm not discussing the philosophical approach on the article nor its postulates, but what I like about the article is one of its proposition at the end which suggests to heal ourselves by healing the world around us. To do so, she invites us to be inspired the aboriginal myths from all around the world, in which nature and behavioral aspects of our relationship with it take a great place.

I like to think about it by including witchcraft, druidry or some folkflore, in which surrounding nature was a key element of such practices and beliefs.

So I got inspired by all this and provided a soundtrack meant to stimulate how each of you listener feel about esoterism, ritualism and how it can affect the relationship we have with the biosphere.
