 	Story behind this song:
  LYRICAL CONSTRUCTION:
My entire family history is one of sickness and illness and I am no exception. I wish there was was a product recall and they'd take me back to the factory and fix me up.

SONIC ARCHITECTURE:
CHAPTER 1
It was around the time I just got the CS-01...one of my friends (Name also James) came over and we basically composed the bass lines as he explored of the instrument's capabilities. James then added some acoustic guitars because just by chance I had one that Mat had loaned me.

CHAPTER 2
Later I came back from seeing a live performance of South Indian Classical / Canartic Music.Being one of the most amazing things I'd ever seen I was completely inspired and used treated bongo samples to make all new drum pseudo-mridangram rhythmic patterns which I used to break up the monotonous TR-909 beat.

CHAPTER 3
About a week later I added the vocoder parts. I think it was the first time I'd got the vocoder sounding alright. A rough mix appeared (Monday mixdown) which went for about 7 minutes because it included all the new Indian sections, a horrible extended intro section (Where I sang "I am going to die a horrible death" because I was fearing devine reprisals for writing such a cool song) and an outro that was also dead weight.

CHAPTER 4
The song was included on the "Empty Promises, Empty Tanks - Essential Collaborations" CD-R but was otherwise totally forgotten about.

CHAPTER 5
Lyrically, this is one of my strongest songs, hence when selecting tracks for my "Best Of" compilation Product Recall came to mind...also I've had a poor run of health this year and I've been reminded how relevant the song still is.

CHAPTER 6
About two years after i wrote it I decided to "rescue" the track from obscurity. To this end I took three days off work to completely re-assemble the track from scratch and replace the drums with more simple/commercial house/dance rhythms. Also added some more CS-01 arpeggio to fill it out and   replaced the bass with the unique hollow sounding (Bandpass filtered?) SID bass which really made the track.

FUTURE REVISONS
This revision I'm still not happy with the "Indian" section in the middle because I'm actually using real mridangram samples now but the patterns aren't as good as the ones I wrote for the treated bongos so I might put the bongos back in before it goes on the CD. I might do a more IDM mix later too (because I hint to it at the end by completely destroying the vocal)
