Captain Planet returns with yet another teaser off his upcoming 
Esperanto Slang album (dropping September 2014 on Bastard 
Jazz). 

"In The Gray" is a heavy reggae joint featuring vocals from LA's Brit 
Lauren (who had previously sung vocals on on 2011's breakout hit 
"Get You Some" which featured on Orange Is The New Black). 
Captain Planet fans will no doubt recognize the riddim on "In The 
Gray" had been previously used in 2011 for CP's unofficial remix of 
Katy B's "On A Mission" which blew up the internet, garnering over 
150,000 plays on Soundcloud. Here on the official re-flip Brit's 
powerful lovelorn vocals drive the tune alongside the crushing bass 
and horns courtesy of Los Angeles supergroup the Lions (Ubiquity 
Records). 

A perfectly primed anthem for all your summer jams, pool parties and 
outdoor BBQs.

Homegrown Los Angeles soul chanteuse Brit Manor is carving out her solo sound with a debut mini-album release on Brooklyn's Bastard Jazz label. The long time triple-threat caused previous sonic waves with her self-released EP series Autoportraits (2011), vocal features on label partner Captain Planet tracks like "In The Gray" (2014) and "Get You Some" (2011, featured prominently on the Orange Is The New Black), and touring and recording collaborations for Nick Waterhouse, Ty Segall, Yellow Alex & the Feelings, Kilo Kish and many more. She also participated in the prestigious Red Bull Music Academy in 2015.

Only Child (produced solely by Captain Planet with the exception of “W8N4U produced by Mike Gao) is a coming of age mini-album that conjures the spirits of a dark past and prays for a cosmic future. Its about taking stock of ourselves, letting go of old ghosts or habits, and moving forward in power and luminescence. Only Child explores reincarnation, parents, lovers, divinity, womanhood, depression, solitude and secrets. It is electronic future soul with organic instrumentation that should settle in the chest.

Lagartijeando is the name of producer, musician and DJ Mati Zundel. Born, raised and currently living in a small town on the outskirts of Buenos Aires called Dolores. Strongly influenced by his travels through Latin America, Mati’s signature psychedelic dance tracks latch onto everything from traditional folk sounds from the Bolivian altiplano to the jungle beats of Brazil.

Mati hypnotically fuses his traditional influences (with an emphasis on shaman chant and charango loops) with contemporary electronic beats, creating a sound that once left NPR speechless.

Freshly into 2017, Mati brings us El Gran Poder via Wonderwheel— named after an important Aymara festival that takes place in Bolivia and Peru, purely to celebrate family. At these festivals, the community also celebrates their culture and the importance of the collective identity. The album was recorded in Mati’s town, Dolores, outside of Buenos Aires. Once again taking a huge variety of sounds— this time influenced by Brazilian house, afro-brazilian rhythms, and folkloric Andean music.

Our Home on Native Land

Aztral Folk is an experimental fusion band based in Tucson, Arizona. The group merges a range of musical styles from gypsy jazz to Mexican folk in a blend we like to call Ethno Psychedelic Fusion. The lead singer, Kiri, is one of the most original and versatile voices to come out of Mexico in recent years, integrating everything from Tuvan throat singing, to operatic voice production, to the guttural Louis Armstrong growl. The band members hail from both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border. They mix the melodic lines of the cello, the punch and groove of the electric bass, and the energetic beats of the drums with Kiri’s multi-dimensional voice to create a journey of song that is inescapable, rustic, and otherworldly.
