One Breath (Classical Glass and Nic Evennett)

The opening of this piece is in 25/8 (7/8 + 7/8 + 5/8 + 3/8 + 3/8). With each new iteration of 25/8, I altered the big beat of each subdivision. In the middle of the piece, I experimented with adding new elements at different parts of the grid. The first note introduced plays every beat and a quarter, as do the second and third note introduced, but with staggered entrances. Lastly, I introduced new patterns one layer at a time, each playing on different parts of the beat, then removed them one layer at a time.

First completed track from the Andrew Huang course in Q1 2020. You can hear all the things I was learning like "transitions" and "ear candy"… and "mixing" -  I have no idea what genres I'm making anymore! And that's okay!

A jazzy re-interpretation of Sheila Chandra's "Ancestral Voices" tabla vocalization - an original track from the album "Weaving My Ancestors' Voices (1992)" - Title: "Speaking In Tongues" - arranged and produced by Peter Heckmann featuring the Hawaiian based pianist Richard Schunk jr.
