Low Spark, they're called... 

A relentlessly grooving musical force based out of Chicago, IL. Drawing from a wide range of influences, they deliver a contemporary fusion of sound characterized by melodic hooks, deep funk tones and extended high-energy solos. Known for their collaborative spirit and electrifying live performances, Low Spark is breaking boundaries as a highly original, progressive act.

Low Spark continues to tour while holding down residencies at Chicago's live music meccas, Underground Wonderbar and Alive One. They have shared bills with the likes of Bernie Worrell Orchestra, Robert Walter, The Main Squeeze, TAUK, New Sound Underground, Marcus Rezak, Chris Bullock, Blackalicious, Monophonics, Euforchestra, SKERIK, Gene Ween and many others.

In the fall of 2013, another band's last minute cancelation left room for Adam Marth (guitar, vocals), Curtis Kuipers (bass), and Ryan Heisler (drums, vocals) to perform a set of mostly improvised music along with a few loosely structured tunes at a rock ‘n’ roll nightclub in Central Michigan. When asked what they were called, Big Sherb was chosen from a list of names they'd come up with over the course of a few pie-eyed summer nights. Following several more performances and the recording of three demo tracks, the trio decided to extend their family, making the addition of Ben Charles (keys, vibraphone, vocals) official shortly thereafter.

Big Sherb’s growing fan base has remained “Intact,” as the band continues to ‘shake booties like hands at a business meeting’. Their aptitude for effortlessly blending funk, electronic, rock, and fusion elements has helped them engage audiences at festivals and shows throughout the Midwest and has regularly lands them on bills supporting nationally touring artists on their Michigan stops.  

In the spring of 2015, Big Sherb released their debut EP “Intact” and soon found their music infiltrating college and public radio waves around Michigan. While continuously serving up their funk-focused grooves at some of the state’s most acclaimed music venues, they plan to stay busy throughout the year ahead, already making plans to return to the studio to record their second album. Creating music that can easily bounce across genre borders is no easy feat, but they appear to be up to the challenge. With each member bringing a diverse set of influences to the table, the shape shifting songs in their rapidly growing catalog are proof that time will only benefit Big Sherb.
