B2 Recordings delivers its fifth release this April, entitled ‘Players Paradise’ and coming courtesy of Greek producer Lex. Athens, Greece based producer and DJ Alex Andrikopoulos aka Lex has been a key figure in the underground electronic music scene of his home turf, founding the now defunct Radical Soundz record store, running numerous events in the country and also the imprint Quantinzed Music. Here we see him deliver his latest work under his Lex guise via Bengoa's fledging B2 Recordings.

Title-cut ‘Players Paradise’ leads, a ten minute journey through popping organic percussion, snaking funk-infused bass lines and an amalgamation of bright piano chords, wandering resonant leads and cinematic strings. Following is ‘Just Realised’, embracing a similarly organic aesthetic via swinging natural drums, a walking jazz-tinged bass line and intricately intertwined, keys, strings and synth licks throughout. ‘In Your Eyes I Never Tried’ then rounds things out, stripping things back rhythmically to shuffled, off-kilter drums while sharp piano melodies, bright strings, vocal chants and choppy sub bass notes wander amongst the bumpy groove.

Stepping back into the limelight, Berlin-based producer Amy Dabbs rolls out her second EP full of captivating jungle and drum & bass rhythms with soulful uplifting harmonies, as she puts out her second release with Lobster Theremin. 

Following on from her debut with the highly acclaimed, housier Girl Like Me EP on Distant Horizons, Amy Dabbs further explores the ‘classic’ aesthetics that are associated with the very foundations of modern dance music. Allure EP comes in at around 160BPM, allowing Amy Dabbs’ tracks to ebb and flow, such that the beats have space to breathe and that the melodies can transcend beyond the music.

Opening track Allure glides around deep chord progressions and seductive vocal touches, while Second Thoughts takes on a more liquid feel, channelling a deeper emotive aura. Take It pulses with a darker intensity as the rhythms become more compact and complex, eliciting a spiritual chill and hypnotic energy. The EP concludes with a remix by 6 Figure Gang’s rave expert, Yazzus, who switches the uplifting vibes of the title track into a warped, pulsing bass-heavy juggernaut of a remix.

Italian producer & Juicy Traxx boss Slim Steve steps onto 1Ø PILLS MATE with New Visions an expansive exploration of modern techno sounds.

The record starts on a tense note with the rolling Everybody Is Talking (Body Mix) building the energy before the metallic, rolling techno of Liquid Metal. On the flip, Boss Ass B_h (COVID-19 Mix) is a break-sprinkled, percussive powerhouse while Loop of Life channels the breakbeat energy and takes it to a faster & more transcendent level.

Two bonus tracks round off the digital release, the big, ravey stomper Losing My Mind In Quarantine and the pensive roller, For The Lonely.

Young Bristol producer Wavezd makes his debut on There Is Love In You Records with a delightful ode to the city of canals. 
The record opens on the bubbly & playful title track Amsterdam before rolling into the twinkly, 303-lined of Feel The Healing Energy and the acid continues as the heady Evening 2 Night darkens the atmosphere.
The flip opens with the dreamlike Moonlit before South East London’s Parallel transforms the title track into a driving, italo journey.

Folks, grab a seat because mother is back! Well, technically Violet’s just released a whole album on naivety - go check it out btw - but this will be her first naive solo EP since “Togetherness” exploded and became the ubiquitous dancefloor track we all know and love. 

On “Espírito” she leaves behind any trace of contemplative jungle and house hybridification to concoct a commanding blend of leftfield Detroit techno sonics and dramatic NYC tribal house. The A-side is a perfect example of this fiery marriage of Sound Factory hard-house beats and glass-like pointillisms that evoke Terrence Dixon and other Midwest experimentalists. 

On the flip side, “Psyche” is a more abstract and somewhat intimate juxtaposition of nervous energy, off-kilter breakbeats and wide-eyed futuristic optimism; a bit as if The Black Dog released their first demos on Cómeme in 2015. 

On the remix we have none other than the Motherbeat founder, High Priestess of the decks and naive royalty Eris Drew, who takes the celestial clouds of spiritual Love from the original and layers them over slick but super-satisfyingly complex beats and textures, exploding into moments of pure lightness and sisterly dancefloor expansion.
