Poolside Etiquette Mixtapes

Since early 2000s, Pierre-Alexandre Busson, aka Yuksek,
has never stopped experimenting, finally becoming one of
the most important producers in electronic music
scene. At once a DJ, world renowned for his energetic
disco/house mixes, a prolific remixer (Gorillaz, Lana
Del Rey, Breakbot, etc.), a producer, a label founder, a
composer of film soundtracks, and radio host, Yuksek jumps
between projects with an enthusiasm that betrays his
deep love of music and his jack-of-all-trades approach.
After his formative years spent in the wild rave scenes of
the 90s, Yuksek has gone on to impose himself as one of
the most brilliant inventive forces in the turbulent
music scene in Reims (The Shoes, Brodinski), giving a
new lease of life to the French Touch. Yuksek marked himself
out from the crowd in 2009 with Away From The Sea.
His first album pulsed with metallic melodies and uppercut
beats, blending rock and electro seamlessly.
In 2016, his third album, tellingly entitled «Nous Horizon»,
Yuksek opened up his musical universe to disco,
broadening the genre further and ushering it into the present
age. The album was the spark he needed to gain widespread
media attention, and Yuksek has kept up the momentum,
moving from one project to another, even releasing
with labels such as Classic Music, Glitterbox, Toy Tonics,
Sweat It Out, Kitsuné, Domino… From Netflix or Cannes Festival
movie soundtracks to the sunny compilations of his label
Partyfine, or his talents as a producer for French popstars
Juliette Armanet and Clara Luciani to Destiino, a dark
and minimal side-project, Yuksek has found a playground to
match his taste for new experiences and discoveries.
A journey that is perfectly summarized by his two flagship projects:
his album Nosso Ritmo, released in early 2020, a fusion
of groovy disco and Brazilian sounds and the Dance’O’Drome
radio show on Radio Nova that brought him right back
to the dancefloor. Yuksek not only gets French medias’ support
: his work has been validated by BBC Radio1, BBC 6
Radio, Billboard, Mixmag Asia, DJ MAG UK, KCRW, NME,
Complex, Dazed, The Guardian, Vice, Worldwide FM…
Dance’O’Drome, Yuksek’s fifth album due spring 2023, expands
the universe created with Nosso Ritmo. Carrying on his
love affair with Brazil, playing with percussions, putting the finishing
touch on a powerful dance mix combining flights of
disco, explosions of punk-funk, and feverish italo-disco sounds,
this homage to the filtered house label Roulé is full of malicious
acid loops and nods to Metro Area or languidly Balearic
beats. An album that echoes, through its eclecticism, the
inspirations drawn from his radio program Dance’O’Drome.
Thanks to this DJ mix show, rare on the French radio spectrum,
which has already proven itself a success, as well as the hypnotic
theme he composed for the series «En Thérapie», and the
soundtrack for the movie «Zaï Zaï Zaï Zaï» this DJ and producer
has found a broad audience, going well beyond his
initial expectations. Whether traveling to festivals or recording
in a studio, behind the mic at Radio Nova or creating the
soundtracks for our favorite television series, Yuksek moves from
project to project with a curiosity and enthusiasm that
is both contagious and yet full of modesty. Yuksek clearly
has no intention of putting a stop to his crazy and hedonistic
race to greatness. The proof, Santas Almas Benditas, the first
single from his new album, sung by Luedji Luna, starts with percussion
before exploding in a voluptuous and sensual dancefloor
bomb, and is the clear demonstration that Yuksek
has decided to make us dance all throughout 2023
