I played the organ for a friend's wedding in the late 80s.  He asked that I record the wedding music on the synthesizer as a gift.  This uses what I'd consider to be very modest gear of the era, an Emu Emax, Roland JX-8P, a Yamaha TX-81Z, an Alesis Midiverb II and MMT-8 sequencer. Mixed down directly to cassette--and toward the end it got a little hot. Some unintentional tape compression. At the start of the B-section I sampled Virgil Fox's version.  Just thought it was cool. Hence the ridiculous tempo.

It's 1958, Manhattan. A dark, smoky bar.  Shades, beard, beret seated on a barstool bathed in a soft blue light.. Strung out guitarist to his right, alien percussionist on the left.  Stool guy think's he's The Raven. All he's got is two words. Hey Bobby. 

Moog Etherwave Theremin through the Moog MurF. Tortured guitar by Nashville session maestro, Jason Roller. Percussion from Stylus RMX.  The Etherwave seems to know who daddy is.

Recorded on 10/26/11 at b.d.c.f. studio by Eric Doucet and Ken Soper.  Eric improvised on the Korg Wavestation and Roland JX8P polysynths, over a  Moog Voyager/Model D ostinato. Ken plunked a note or two on the Alicia Keys piano sample for Kontakt.

Letter to my grandchildren: April 2020

This quarantune is a direct product of this strange time. Everything was composed, played, recorded and mixed in isolation during her lockdown by Anne Burton, who also sings the vocals.
It is inspired by the thought of perhaps being asked, at some point in the distant future: “What was it like to live through the great pandemic of 2020?” 
There are three sections: a slow instrumental beginning, a funkier middle bit and the sung part at the end.
Instruments used: Casio Px5x keyboard. 
Akai MPD 218 finger drumming machine. 
Cubase virtual instruments.
