Evening Walk

Feet of Clay

I used what is sometimes referred to as the Andalusian cadence (i-VII-VI-V) as the A part on this song. The main melody line follows that. I had the melody in my head and played it and struggled with the timing and tried to quantize and adjust it. My wife and best friend helped me with it. After attempting to explain to me the nuances in timing that were off, she simply played it by feel to give me an example. Fortunately, I was recording the MIDI notes in Logic and I ended up using her “example” as the actual melody line. She has the musical groove built into her DNA. 

The bass is all from the Minimoog Model D. This includes the main bass track as well as the big filter/glide sweeps (processed through a couple Eventide plugins). The aforementioned gritty lead melody is from the Sequential Trigon-6. The Blade Runner-ish big pads on the B section are also from the Trigon. There are a few highly processed piano notes from Keyscape. And the mysterious sounding treble synth that is almost always in the background is U-He Diva (such a great synth).

Wow, it's been a while I posted something here, lol. :D
However, last time I did something I'm really proud of. This time I tried to make something from my old composition, but I've worked much more on the production rather than composition. Just wanted to have some fun. ;)

The composition is quite old, because the main part was composed yet in August 2014. Well, a while ago. ;)
The history of this track is a bit funny. That time (in 2014) I was bored, while playing with Schism Tracker (I have nothing new to track!), so I tried to click on various keys on the keyboard. I remember, that that time I was watching great old cartoon "Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner" (which I also used to watch from VHS when I was a child - yep, I still have that tape :D). However, I thought about it while playing and decided to try to play the "coyote" word on an instrument loaded into Schism Tracker. The result was really interesting (I'd never thought, I would hear something with any sense), so I decided to save it into a small module. It was really funny to do so, but that original version wasn't really enjoyable - it was rather rough. I decided to keep it in an archive and wait for a moment, when I will recompose it to something better and - I think, that this is just this moment. ;)

Well, maybe this (really) new version of this composition is still not really perfect, but I think it's nice to listen to it. :) Especially, since it's just a music joke. :D

Wild By Nature

Hello everybody! :)

This time something for a game project. :)
I don't know if this is good enough, but I hope it's nice to listen to it. ;)

I thought about "how it would sound, if Kombi, Kayah and Reni Jusis will record a track together?" and I tried to compose a music module in such a weird style. ;)

Anyway, because of so much effects and VST instruments, the final track was difficult to play live (as a module) on my Pentium 4, which decided that "it's too much for me, guy", and occasionally failed to play it properly (glitches were common). :D
So, I'm happy that exporting this module (just because it's something like "rendering") was 100% successful. :)

Music is my real love. I love composing and producing it. In fact, it's my greatest hobby. I'm doing it since ca. 2000 year.
Since 2003/2004 I'm using lot of music software. Since 2007 I'm writing music modules (Amiga, PC and Mac).
And, since 2020, I'm also using GarageBand on my Mac Mini.
Since 2016 I'm also partially active in the Amiga scene.

love the dark, sad, experimental and hazy side of things, hypnotic loops and damaged sounds. massive horror geek. not without a sense of humour. partner in crime with Shelley and Loren.

if you're questioning why or how i'm able to upload on a frequent basis, simply put - i have A LOT of time on my hands at this point in my existence, a wealth of music/sounds to draw upon, and a decent collection of software to make things (e.g. both the synth and fx arturia vst collections). i'm not just auto-generating ai pieces ad nauseum, at the same time i have nothing against using ai in the creative process, but not as an outright replacement for creation. i really think the witch hunt over it all is a bit ridiculous, fueled by the greed pig corporate media companies mostly. 

one thing i've learned about making at least a little bit of money from streaming my music beyond measley penny scraps, i have to upload frequently and i've been experimenting with reuploading/reposting my tracks for better play counts (for now), if even it only results in cutting costs.

My first substantive memory involving music was playing vinyl records on my father’s Magnavox turntable through a Heathkit tube amp and speakers housed in handmade cabinets. It is a sepia-tinted, yet still vivid, recollection. My memory of a Tchaikovsky piano concerto, Mario Lanza’s soaring tenor, Danny Kaye’s infectious joy, and the Harmonikings’ rocking harmonica set some of the foundation for my attitude toward music.

In spite of my obvious talent at playing hip 70’s tunes on the turntable, my parents chose piano for me. I reluctantly took lessons and battled piano teachers for the next 10 years and learned almost nothing.

Eventually, things clicked and a desire to learn music emerged. Synthesizers made an appearance, the Beach Boys injected their tunes into the psyche, Electric Light Orchestra provided a magic carpet of escape, and Frank Mills released a song called “The Music Box Dancer”. Without the benefit of the Internet in 1979, I tracked down the name and composer of that piano-driven song, purchased the sheet music, and became enamored of melodic piano tunes.

The realization that radio songs could be played on the piano gave me a reason to practice music and find joy in it. All the while, the siren-call of the synthesizer, demonstrated by greats such as Kitaro, Wendy Carlos, Jean-Michel Jarre, Isao Tomita, and Vangelis, guided my musical tastes. The foundation of melody and strong lyrical content realized by synthesizers shaped my approach to writing and recording songs.
