E2-E4 is an instrumental 59 min track recorded live and in one take by Manuel Göttsching in his Berliner studio the December 12, 1981 and released 3 years later in 1984. This influential album will have truly marked electronic music and repetitive/progressive composition.
Parisian disc-jockey and art director Marius, obsessed by this track since he discovered it, reworked the track by editing it in a shorter format trying to faithfully transpose the progressive side of the original piece, and added a bass (TB303), a beat and percussion instruments.

Cet album mythique aura marqué la musique électronique et la composition répétitive, progressive, couche par couche. 
Le disc-jockey et directeur artistique parisien Marius, que ce morceau obsède depuis sa découverte, a ici retravaillé le morceau en l’éditant dans un format plus court tout en essayant de retranscrire au mieux le côté progressif du montage original, et y a ajouté une basse (TB303), un beat et des percussions.

This collection of underground dance music covers tracks released between 1975 and 1983 from both sides of the Atlantic. The tracks chosen for this compilation introduce some of the pioneering few who expanded the horizons of disco to incorporate elements of dub, funk, electro, jazz and Latin. In some ways many of the artists featured here foresaw the birth of successive musical genres. There is no disputing that they were all well ahead of their time and with the recent trend of similarly inspired house they sound as fresh today as they did then.

The music chosen for this album were the underground classics that made the scene what it was in the heady of days of the Paradise Garage and the Loft in NYC and the Warehouse in Chicago where DJs such as Arthur Baker and Francois Kervorkian could be heard spinning such tracks.

On disc two (CD version only) Masters at Work add their touches to one of their favourite tracks while Harvey and Underdog take on the Disco Dub band and come up with two very different interpretations which will work on today’s dancefloors.

Punkin Machine's "I Need You Tonight”, originally released in 1981, is another typical example of an underground hit, played at many a flat party these days like an obvious, bona-fide early 80s discopop hit when it was actually quite obscure until James Murphy unearthed it on his FabricLive Mix in 2007. Produced by Jerry Cucuzzella, the track is a feel good bumping disco track, with punchy bass, spanky guitars and sassy vocals that make for an uplifting and energetic listen - a nice throwback to the heyday of Montreal disco
