The 38th release of katharsis and our final release of 2023 is the prodigious compilation "Embracing Darkness, Absorbing Light" featuring a vast array of artist beloved by the label. Throughout the grandiose line-up of the 36 tracks, the listener is absorbed by various differing interpretations of the theme outlined in the title of the album. Some of the invited artist went full into introverted progressions and meditative sounds, while others focused on aggressive rhythms or anthemic melodies. But even though the styles and techniques of the songs differ from each other, the artists seem to have some commonality in their sonic palettes that binds it all together in a mutual love for music as a healing force of nature <3

Brussels' wunderkind Kiche releases his first EP on MONTAGE! The 5-track piece of bliss discovers the formal rules of a ceremony. Through his signature sound of staccato digitalis -or bleeps and bloops in laymans terms- Kiche envelops us in the gestures necessary to perform a function. One has to come on time, wear appropriate attire and behave in the proper manner if one wants to keep their social standing. Do you wear a tuxedo to the club?
Throughout its length, Kiche's ceremony EP envelops us in synthblasts that sound like they could echo from an altar, but there is always a sense of cheeky fun peaking around the corner. In centerfold, little arpeggios sway in and out as a group of lovers playing at the back of the dance. Try to think of this music next time you're putting on your formal attire.

With a sonic palette showing sensibility to acoustic instruments the 10 tracks sounds like a blend of Terrence Malick contemplative state and a tender-hearted pastel memento mori.
