cool! haven't heard Notorious in dumb and bass 😍

It's been a long minute since we've published a mix—that isn't to say that we have spent the last year in hibernation, however.

Indeed, we spent most of 2020 plying our trade at a toasty, over-the-bridge establishment called 'The Foxtrot', playing warming selections for a thirsty, seated crowd.

When playing gigs at the ol' Fox, and of a similar dynamic in recent time, we've been promoting more slow-mo, lo-fi and hip-hop-oriented sounds—often steering clear of a repetitive 4x4 kick drum—regularly flipping over to a cool, relatively unknown B-side and exercising the depths of our collections in the process.

This is one example that we really quite enjoyed, recorded live, opening the night at The Foxtrot, and we thought it best to share here.

ruzzia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine has been going on for more than 100 days. For more than 100 days, the country has been fighting for its future as a state and nation. That's how long I haven't touched music. I went through all the states of a person who lives around war, pain, fear, uncertainty, hatred and contempt. Having overcome the feeling of guilt in myself that I have no moral right to think about music and try to entertain people with it, I nevertheless decided to speak out. I recorded a soundtrack for Ukraine, for the people, for the place where I'm from, for everyone who is going through hell on earth.

This mix was the first volume in a mix series called "Ode to New York City." I had been living in the city for a couple of years now, had experienced its ups and downs and had gotten accustomed to its spirit and rhythm. I wanted to create something that would remind me of those first days, because, somehow, I knew things would start changing soon...

Soho Shopping is that aimless Sunday afternoon feeling in the early days of Spring when you jump into your worn out sneakers, put on your earbuds, and start strolling down the streets of the city, hopeful and smiling, people-watching and window-shopping, in one of those moments when the concrete jungle opens up and welcomes you in its embrace...for a little while :)
