Summer Tapes 2023 - #5 g-Ha

Hailing from London, Kleo’s reputation for underground music continues to grow apace. Having been turned onto the sounds of Mr C, one of the founding pioneers of the UK acid house scene in 1990, once heard there really was no going back.
Influenced by all kinds of producers and DJs, he has been honing the deep, moody and melodic style for which he has become known for over 20 years. An avid vinyl collector and lover of music his sets reflect a variety of styles ranging from the more electronic side of deep-house and vocal tracks, through to techno & acid house. A bit more tech, and a little less house...

As the scene grew, he graduated in 1996 from private parties to his first residency at the notorious ‘Bar Vinyl’ (the first club-like bar in London to host DJs).
Kleo’s first break on the underground scene came in 1997 when he was heard by Fabric resident Terry Francis who invited him to play at one of his infamous ‘Wiggle’ parties, since then he has frequented the decks at Wiggle and many underground parties including a bi-monthly residency at the legendary ‘End’ club for Tech-House stalwarts ‘Rescue Recordings’. Kleo has also played at various clubs in Germany, parties all over London and the UK including the Ministry of Sound and many more.
Immersed deeply in the music scene in London Kleo was selling electronic music at Camden Town market for nearly two decades and worked closely with Fabric nightclubs label for many years before moving to Australia last year, he now devotes much of his time to his own productions on Kleek Recordings.
A firm lover of vinyl, Kleo collects music from all over the world, this mix features tracks that were picked up during a recent visit to London plus some gems unearthed at Sydney’s very own ‘Something Else records’ – where Kleo has been invited to host a live in store mix very soon. We hope these sounds move you in more way than one.
