Just Movement opens the fall season by welcoming AxeLara back to the label for a new EP. Hailing from Argentina, AxeLara has been a frequent contributor to Just Movement since making his label debut in 2017. Following a contribution to the Summer VA series, The Mar del Plata resident has gone on to record eleven originals and remix across five years. With Manual Music’s MNL division and Kaito Aman’s Terasonic Records also serving as recent landing spots for Axe’s progressive sound, the Argentinean artist now finds his way back to Just Movement for a much-anticipated EP entitled ‘Aglaia / True Lies’, alongside remixes from Alex O’Rion and Sebastian Sellares.

The release concludes with Sebastian Sellares making his label debut with the lone interpretation of ‘True Lies’. Hailing from one of Argentina’s most talent-rich regions in Cordoba, Sebastian Sellares has taken his melodic sound to some of progressive music’s premiere imprints. UK behemoth Anjunadeep, Antrim’s Or Two Strangers, GMJ and Matter’s meanwhile and US powerhouse Proton Music have all served as landing spots for the Argentine’s beloved sound, while world class DJs Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Guy J have been steadfast supporters along the way. In what would have to be considered Sebastian’s most prolific year to date, the fast-rising phenom now makes his Just Movement debut with a peak time rendition of ‘True Lies’. In taking the original’s sensibility Sebastian goes a level up with driving percussive arrangements and full rolling grooves. From this confident club energy comes smooth atmospheric phrasing and buoyant rhythms leading in the break. Looking to bring further emotion to the narrative, percussion gently fades and atmosphere rises across the centrepiece, planting gentle splashes of serotonin along the way, before ultimately breaking off into a heads down finale. A sensational remix from Sebastian, rounding out what is another excellent project from Just Movement stalwart AxeLara. Don’t miss it.

Around Us - It's Been a While (Kasey Taylor Remix) [LuPS Records]

D.J. MacIntyres SLC-6 Music continues a strong fourth quarter by showcasing new interpretations of Rockkas Black Sands. Hailing from Sri Lanka, Rockka aka Lakith Adikaram has been releasing his own unique style of progressive music for the better part of three years. Making his mark through a series of Droid9 releases featuring deep and atmospheric grooves, Rockka demonstrated his mastery, paving the way for a notable ascent early in his career. Although younger than most of his contemporaries, the Nugegoda resident impressed going forward, quickly landing projects with Balkan Connection, Clubsonica, Mango Alley, RKP and Yomo Records. SLC-6 Music has also been a comfortable landing spot for Rockka, with two originals and a remix released across 2023, one of those being Black Sands which was part of the SIX: Stage-16 collection. Now, looking to inject new life into the track, SLC-6 calls upon Nicolas Benedetti, Dr Green and Matias Vega to re-imagine the production in their own essence. The first interpretation finds Nicolas Benedetti returning to the label for his sixth appearance. Known for his smooth progressive style, the Buenos Aires resident re-models Black Sands in fine fashion, maintaining the dark drive of the original while adding his own chunky cadence and lively melodic top lines. Sri Lankan artist and label A&R Dr Green is next and he brings greater depth to the track with his cross-cultural style. Subversive vocal phrasing and timely instrumentation give the mix his own inimitable stamp, while a powerful low end and stunning effects narrative provide all the dancefloor magic you could ever want. Rounding out the release with his second SLC-6 appearance is Argentinean talent Matias Vega who arrives following an EP for Suza Records. The Catamarca resident brings a nostalgic approach with a series of buzzing chord stabs and panoramic effects which ultimately power this peak-time gem.
