As our label continues to grow, one of the greatest honors is featuring new music from artists that we love and respect. So it’s with exceptional pleasure that we present to you, fresh new music from contemporary disco shakers Midnight Magic! Truly a band and not just some producers trying their hand at disco, Midnight Magic broke out with their Beam Me Up single a few years back and their follow up Drop Me a Line was one of our biggest DJ bombs for almost a year. Now, they bring their Magic to Soul Clap Records with a 5 track EP of eclectic disco bliss.

The lead single is called Night Flight and it will have you flying all the way into the future. For the remixes we’ve enlisted our Crew Love fam to bring the jam into our land. ''Over a century ago Thomas Edison got the patent for a device which would "do for the eye what the phonograph does for the ear". He called it the Kinetoscope. He was not only amongst the first to record video, he was also the first person to own the copyright to a motion picture.

Because of Edison's patents for the motion pictures it was close to financially impossible to create motion pictures in the North American east coast. The movie studios therefor relocated to California, and founded what we today call Hollywood. The reason was mostly because there was no patent. Congo Natty aka Rebel MC has a career dating back to his early hit with Double Trouble, "Street Tuff," but is probably most respected as one of the pioneers of Jungle - perhaps the first uniquely UK-born bass music. 

"Jungle Revolution" features the whole of the extended Congo Natty family and was mixed with Adrian Sherwood. Clearly showing this Rasta's belief that Jungle is a re-boot of roots reggae for a new century, the record is full of blood and fire, the sternum-buzz of sub-bass, rapid fire drum breaks, sweet hooks, righteous anger and professions of religious fervour. It’s the kind of passionate, committed, raw and spiritual, beautiful record that doesn’t come along every day. 

To celebrate this release, we are streaming the track "UK Allstars," which features a who's who of British soundsystem culture. This is the first time ever that this line up have all appeared on one track together and so also marks a historic coming together of a scene which lies at the roots of so much of what we now take for granted in UK music, from dubstep to grime to drum & bass and beyond.

In a UK reggae scene that has long eschewed bands in favor of sound systems, Backbeat Soundsystem are a different beast, bringing 8 musicians to the stage. While many of their peers are slavish in their attempt to recreate an authentic Jamaican-leaning sound, Backbeat Soundsystem are not afraid to go in totally different directions, pulling in influences from all across the music spectrum, to create their vision of modern reggae. Dean and Adjua effortlessly tear up the stage with lush harmonies, soaring melodies and natural born chemistry. This combined with a flawless horn section and undeniable groove leaves the audience mesmerised by their show stopping performance. Bringing an electronic flavour to the mix, with dub effects, sirens and live analog synthesiser, Backbeat Soundsystem remind the world that dub reggae is at the forefront of dance music culture.

Since forming in 2008, Backbeat Soundsystem has appeared at many of the best-known UK festivals, including Glastonbury, Boomtown Fair, Beautiful Days, Secret Garden Party, Greenman, Boardmasters, and many others, as well as toured in Europe and the United States. They’ve supported Madness, Cypress Hill, Arrested Development, Tinie Tempah, The Streets, and Dub Pistols. 
Following the success of two self-released EPs and two tours with Easy Star All-Stars in the UK, the band was signed by the U.S.-based reggae label Easy Star Records. Together Not Apart, the band’s debut full-length, came out in 2014 via Easy Star and brought a worldwide audience to this ambitious young band. The Punk Archive called Together Not Apart “…a top, top record and one you need in your collection,” while Shout 4 Music said it was “Packed with conscious lyrics, and buoyed by a reggae riddim filled with energy and positive vibes.”
