Rings of Neptune is an independent A/V agency based in Paris and Berlin, born from the on-going collaboration between Rotate and Pluie/Noir over the past half-decade.

We represent an international roster of artists with a particular focus on the electronic-music spectrum and its intricate sonic diversity. Our artists produce music, perform live or DJ around the world, and our goal is, above all, to provide them with a sustainable system that enables creativity. Through ongoing open dialogue, we aim to fulfil whatever path our artists envision, treating all parts of their creative process with equal importance.

For the next edition of OUFFFCAST, we have the genuine pleasure to welcome accomplished selector and all around nice guy - Gira!

As one of the founders of the Basic Movement collective in Paris, Gira has been an integral part of the electronic music resurgence that has taken place in the French capitol in recent years. From a distance and with keen interest, we have observed the increasing number of DJs, producers, music collectives and clubs that have burst on to the scene. Gira is an important force of this evolution.

Over the last couple of years, Gira has invited and shared the booth with a bunch of A+ selectors like Sugar Free, Andrew James Gustav, Digby, Youandewan, Alec Falconer, Riccardo, Manuel Schatz, the gentlemen from Beau Mot Plage, and many more. With great energy and enthusiasm, Gira is someone whose passion for music is impossible to miss. His contribution to the OUFFFCAST series is a true testament to his deep musical knowledge and enviable mixing skills. I hope you enjoy the mix as much as we do. HULA-HOP TAPES is a podcast series that was created with the intention of sharing music, for us to enjoy it and for it to be a space where we can give our opinions and exchange opinions via SoundCloud.

For the TAPE 001 we have Badano and it is also his first podcast. What he says is true: 

"I've been wanting to bring out material that I've been nourishing myself with, especially over the last year. 

Although I have my musical preferences, I always say that there is a small corner within each music style that has its own moment that I am able to enjoy and I’ll try to show it little by little, starting with this podcast, developed with a very special selection. 

I hope you like it".

Los primeros tape cassettes, o simplemente tape o cassette surgieron en el año 1963 y fueron fabricados por la marca Philips. A lo largo de la historia, los DJs han usado este formato para la grabación de sus sesiones en directo y es una de las razones por las que hoy en día podemos disfrutar y conocer las mezclas que se realizaban allá por los años 90.

Tampoco pretendemos engañar a nadie, no habíamos pensado en esto cuando la idea nació. Pero es un nombre molón y fácil de darle identidad visual. 

HULA-HOP TAPES es una serie de podcasts que nace con la intención de compartir música, que la disfrutemos y que, por qué no, sea un espacio donde opinar e intercambiar opiniones gracias a la interacción que SoundCloud permite.

Para el TAPE 001 tenemos, a quien sino, a Badano y además es su primer podcast. Todo lo que dice es verdad, pero se ha puesto un poco intensito, las cosas como son:

“Llevo un tiempo queriendo sacar a la luz material del que me he nutrido sobre todo este último año. 

Hace cosa de un año me encontraba en una situación de frustración conmigo mismo, con mi música; por el hecho de no poder sentirme cómodo en distintas situaciones a lo largo de un fin de semana musical; en el cual, predominaba el baile de la música más pistera. Sin embargo, tras esos momentos de baile siempre quedaban esos momentos de decadencia donde uno ya no buscaba bailar sino gozar de esos sonidos puros que afectan al cerebro de una manera relajante. 

Me frustraba el hecho de buscar sensaciones que mi música no era capaz de aportar al momento, ni a mi mismo; Por lo que no tenía nada que ofrecer musicalmente en estos casos.

Tras esta situación, me propuse poder contar una historia musical durante un fin de semana entero en el que abarcaría múltiples estilos definidos para cada momento y poder gozar de de cada uno de ellos en su momento más adecuado. 

Aunque tengo mis preferencias musicales, siempre digo que existe un pequeño rincón dentro de cada estilo musical que tiene su momento y del cual soy capaz de disfrutar y así lo iré mostrando poco a poco, Comenzando por este podcast, desarrollado con una selección muy cuidada.

SAISEI is a Japanese label founded and curated by Junki Inoue. Known as an avid record enthusiast and for his impeccable dj sets, Junki Inoue brings a very carefully curated, idealised and conceptualised platform that marries his native Japan and his current London-base.

SAISEI is a Japanese word which means ‘reproduction’ and ‘to play’ (as in playing records).
Japanese culture is widely known for being traditional as much as it is known for being forward into the future and this label’s concept makes justice to exactly that. Having started to dig records as early as 16, Inoue delved into productions from 1990s Japan to feature native gems previously unreleased on vinyl. The idea is to recapture and reintroduce unique pieces of Japanese electronic music on a new (old) medium which is vinyl and, to an audience it never reached before as most of this music was only released in Japan.

As with most things Japanese, they are generally ahead of their time, in this case, it means this is music sounding so fresh now as it did when it came out, one that survived the test of time to, 30 years later, prove the true meaning of timeless, sublime, elegant and sophisticated music. With that said, it is no surprise this label will not limit itself to necessarily functional club music but way beyond.

The first EP on the label is by artists KINO-MODERNO formed by Dat Planet and Wah Wah Fuzzmaster and distributed by Berlin’s ‘Off the Grid’. This extraordinary acid house & techno music of Kino-Moderno that was originally created with the assistance of a powerful sound treatment of a 3D recording system called BMC that makes it sound so refreshingly retro-future but with an undoubtedly 2021 twist when listening to it. While incorporating a binaural recording technique via dummy head and given an improvised digital remix treatment via a classic synthesizer, Synclavia 2, you can enjoy these powerfully penetrating tracks that sought a 3D audio, trip-like feel throughout.

Kino-Moderno was experimenting very early on with emerging, different recording ideas such as rapping, poetry-reading and synthetic voicing. Their use of a 3D recording system called BMC added to the sound carrying over to today, paired with binaural recording technique via dummy head and an improvised digital remix treatment via the classic Synclavia 2 synthesizer. The album which featured ‘Into the Future’ and ‘The Glove’ was quite experimental in its time but very danceable as well.
