Good morning Lars 😊

➢ Tell us what song puts you in a good mood when you wake up in the morning?

 That varies immensely, its rarely anything electronic though, although i have been making a playlist lately, with old classics (in my opinion) with vocals, like Stimming - Close the curtains, Dapayk & Padberg - Island feat. Caro (Nôze Remix)… these really sets my mood at top level :). Or else its more traditional songs and can be anything from Norah Jones to radiohead and everything in between.

➢ Disfunctional Disco is a great name. Tell us the history about how it became your artist alias?

Uffff, that is an old story, to cut it short, we were sitting at an afterparty…..MANY MANY years ago, and in our godlike knowledge mode(as you know you achieve at afterparties), we were trying to redefine the term house music, and my best bid was, thats it basically started out as “Disfunctional Disco”, and it stuck ever since.

➢ You co-manage the label @sofa-beats-1 . Give one piece of advice you have learnt running Sofa Beats to someone who is looking to start their own music label?

DONT DO IT…hahaha, no im kidding. Be sure its not just a vanity project, you have to bring true value to yourself and the artist involved, and by that i mean, get involved, read about rights, royalities and all the boring legal stuff, be professional from the start, that is i think the most important thing…be professional from the start.

➢ Since the pandemic it has been difficult time for the music scene, how has it changed in Denmark and what do you think will be different when things return to a certain “normality”?

Its such a difficult question to answer, in copenhagen the clubs have suffered hard, and have been forced to look into fundraising etc. to survive, thats the biggest impact, that our clubscene is hit really hard, and to be honest its hard to say if they will survive at all. When society opens up(its happening now actually), im not sure we’ll see big changes to be honest, people will take the necessary precautions to get to a party, slowly the restrictions will fade to normal, Pirate parties will reign supreme in the beginning, but i think in a year or so, we will be back to were we were just before the pandemic.

➢ Lastly, regarding this mix you have done for us, can you tell us a little bit of your thought process behind choosing the tracks you chose?

Im spoiled in the promo department, so i always try to put in something i know few people have heard yet, i usually start to collect tracks 2-3 weeks prior to a podcast or mix, then i play around with the material, checking keys and transitions, then i usually get angry cause i think its sound like shit:)….then ill get a few more tracks, maybe even a classic tune, play around some more, until i dance around like a mania…then i know its there :)

About this journey:
On a warm Sunday morning in May, in a castle near Paris,
two lovers indulged their passion behind the decks. 
Sunbathing in a bed, surrounded by their friends and giving themselves into a hedonistic Bordeaux red,  they played a set. 
5 hours, french kisses, a room filled with mattresses, the queen prepared herself. 
Bodies move through silky sheets, their children play in the garden of delight, 
warm sin, rouge skin, lustre and love is becoming one thing. 
The vision becomes a forgotten dream. 
Don’t wake me. Play it again.

This set was recorded at the Hedone Paris Seminar. 
During the 5 hours session, the recorder broke, and we were able to recover only 2.5 hours.  Hesitant to upload the set, as it is not the whole story anymore, we are happy and excited to upload it for Cosmovision records — for the Parisian hedonists in you.

It's not only one of the most amazing art car project I have seen so far, but it represents also a fantastic stage for artists to perform on the playa of Afrika Burn with a full dedicated amazing crew members behind it. Thank you Michael, But, Jerry, Jeffrey, and many more new friends to have included me in your family, we are all dream catchers!

I played 3 times on the Spirit Train and this set is my first one, performed on Friday afternoon on the playa. 2 hours of a musical world tour in downtempo, only positive music for positive people. Probably one of the best composition I made so far. Enjoy it!

Slowing down since...

Rasmus Backhaus is a Copenhagen based dj, who has been around for quite a while now and he is one half  of the dj duo Angebot. 

Even though his main influence and inspiration comes from Berlin, he spent his first four years dj’ing in metropolitan Barcelona back in the year of 2001, playing venues such as Macarena microclub, Apolo, La Paloma and Le Kasbah. He moved back to Copenhagen in 2005 where he quickly became a strong contender among the Danish dj circuit, dj'ing mainly at Vega Nightclub and at the now closed and legendary open-air venue, Luftkastellet. 

In the summer of 2019 Backhaus hooked up with friend and colleague, Bow Miller, and together they created Angebot.
Angebot is the result of their common interest and passion for world music and deep-driving downtempo.

These days he wants to play less, but good so to speak. Choosing only venues with the soundsystem and good vibes that he likes, such as Werkstatt, Hangaren and his all time favourite bar in the centre of Copenhagen, Log Lady

When dj'ing, Backhaus is all about connecting with the crowd, so that he can do what he does best; playing nice and deep mid-tempo electronic music, that leaves you bouncing and filled with warmth.
