The Upload

It was a beautiful sunny day in March and easily the warmest day of the year in the witch’s forest.  Despite a temperature of only 13°C, the witches got in the mood for their first dive of the year into the Nymph’s Pond.  So Hekske (the little witch), Falke (the witch apprentice) and Lalita (the Asian tree nymph) slipped out of their dresses and cautiously waded into the pond.  After a few minutes, they had gotten used to the cold water and they even dived below the surface.  While completely under water, Hekske felt something weird happening.  The water suddenly became much warmer and the color turned from murky brown into pure aquamarine.  When she popped up above the surface, she realized – much to her bewilderment – that she was in the middle of a lush green tropical rainforest.  The temperature of the water was very pleasant, so the little witch was not in a hurry to get out of the pond, swimming lazily around in the company of some colorful fish.  After a while, the girl saw a huge snake swimming towards her.  This was easily the biggest snake she had ever seen.  The anaconda gently curled around the little witch and could easily have crushed her.  But witches have nothing to fear from animals, and this was just a tender embrace to welcome the girl into the Brazilian rainforest.
A little later, a family of giant brown rodents arrived near the edge of the pond.  The sweet-looking animals looked at the little witch with great curiosity.  The girl decided to get out of the water and immediately started to frolic with the young animals.  The mother told her that they were a family of capybaras and she also mentioned that the local witch had hung a white dress on a nearby branch, because she was expecting an European witch to arrive.  The little capybaras were fascinated by the witch’s pale-white skin (a color which they had never seen before) and couldn’t stop touching her.  After a lazy stroll through this garden of Eden, the capybaras showed the immaculately white dress to the little witch, who tried it on immediately.  Miraculously, it had the perfect size, although it was much shorter than the dresses she used to wear in her home forest in Flanders.  In any case, it was perfectly suited for the hot and humid Brazilian climate.  After that, the little witch was in no hurry to go and meet the local witch, as she was too busy observing all the colorful birds which were flying around in this forest, like hummingbirds, macaws and araçaris.  This place was a true Garden Of Eden and the little witch was curious what would come next …

Grüezi miteinand 🌞⛰
Zum 55ten Igelkarussell-Podcast ist Anstoßen Pflicht, also lassen wir – zumindest virtuell – zusammen mit Daniel Imhof aus Bern die Krüge klingen 🥂 
Zunächst ein paar Worte zu seiner gewaltigen Schaffenskraft: Neben dem Auflegen und eigener Musikproduktion ist er in der Podcastserie von Echoes from Venus involviert, ein Züricher Label erster Güteklasse in Sachen Downtempo. Als Mitglied der Berner „Flanieren“-Crew veranstaltet er außerdem Partys für die hiesige Downtempo-Gemeinde. Und als wäre das noch nicht genug moderiert er schon seit rund 15 Jahren die Sendung Supernova des lokalen Kult-Radiosenders RaBe. „Was das Herz berührt und Harmonieherzen höher schlagen lässt,“ lautet die Devise der Sendung, die ihre ZuhӧrerInnen stets mit Musik verschiedenster Genres erfreut – von Ambient bis World Music ist für alle etwas dabei. Zusätzlich ist Daniel auch passionierter Yogi und bietet gelegentlich musikalisch untermalte Yogastunden an. Kakaozeremonie on Top und fertig ist das Rundum-Sorglos Programm!🙏

So facettenreich wie er selbst ist selbstverständlich auch sein Sound, der sich schwer auf wenige Genres beschränken lässt. Diversität betrachtet er als höchstes Gut und das prägt seinen Stil maßgeblich. Sein Mix für uns ist Balsam für die Seele in diesen unsicheren Zeiten und begleitet uns an einem angenehm roten Faden entlang von Anfang bis Ende durch ein pures Wohlfühlerleben der Musik. Auf jeden Fall etwas für Genießer und Träumer, die gerne mal die Augen schließen und sich an einen verwunschenen Ort im Grünen versetzen lassen – fernab der Pandemie und direkt hinein in die sommerliche Klangwelt.

Slowing down since...

Rasmus Backhaus is a Copenhagen based dj, who has been around for quite a while now and he is one half  of the dj duo Angebot. 

Even though his main influence and inspiration comes from Berlin, he spent his first four years dj’ing in metropolitan Barcelona back in the year of 2001, playing venues such as Macarena microclub, Apolo, La Paloma and Le Kasbah. He moved back to Copenhagen in 2005 where he quickly became a strong contender among the Danish dj circuit, dj'ing mainly at Vega Nightclub and at the now closed and legendary open-air venue, Luftkastellet. 

In the summer of 2019 Backhaus hooked up with friend and colleague, Bow Miller, and together they created Angebot.
Angebot is the result of their common interest and passion for world music and deep-driving downtempo.

These days he wants to play less, but good so to speak. Choosing only venues with the soundsystem and good vibes that he likes, such as Werkstatt, Hangaren and his all time favourite bar in the centre of Copenhagen, Log Lady

When dj'ing, Backhaus is all about connecting with the crowd, so that he can do what he does best; playing nice and deep mid-tempo electronic music, that leaves you bouncing and filled with warmth.
