Thought this'd be a perfect one for Valentine's Day coming up. This came about after a series of serendipitous events in early december 2013, talking with Ness, The Herbal Hustler about Bill, led to making a mini-bill mix (maybe i'll put that out one day if I expand on it), to watching the documentary "Still Bill" and on the plane ride home, I thought to myself "I'd like Just the Two Of US alot better without Grover's sax" so, I started working on it just for fun. Well, here's how it turned out. Just the Vocal Bill parts chopped, some magic that could only come from the great heart of Bill Withers! 

 Time WIth You is a personal one, lots of heart opening while I was working on it, and what was going on with myself, my wife, my best friend Ness, and her boyfriend. It's about spending one-on-one time with those you love, which is so so important when the relationship is deep. Whether it's a: mother, father, grandma or grandpa, brother or sister, wife or husband, daughter or son, homie, friend, soul mate, or twin soul. Whether renewing an old friendship, or starting a new one, all the words you need to voice how you feel were sung by Bill 30 some years ago.

So, to dedicate, on my travels, I of course interact and sometimes hangout with the Girlfriends & Wives of my Musical Peers. They always tell me the SAME THING. "Gaff, make sure you make the most of your time with your lady when you're at home" So, really, this song is for them, missing their men, and to all my brothers travelling or touring on the road, "make the most of your time with YOUR ladies when you're at home!"

A brassed out version of the Rihanna/Kanye Four Five Seconds remix @Lidogotsongs and I did that was pulled from the internet last week from his page. Shouts to Raja Kassis for replacing the acoustic guitar parts on such short notice, and Mark Osen Osnes for killing the guitar parts on the original remix. Also shouts to Lido for being an absolute beast.

RIP Aretha Franklin, the Queen of Soul.

I made this last month for SB5 and thought I'd upload it today as a tribute.

 Back when I was in 8th grade, I discovered sampling and found out it’s the basis of hip hop production and culture. I was captivated by this art form and she was one of the first artists I sampled in that same week. Over the last 15+ years, I’ve sampled her countless times and learned the craft through sampling her amazing discography. 2 of the most prominent beats of mine with samples of her are “In This Whole World” and “I’m Free”, and even to this day, coincidentally, I made 3 beats last month for SB5 with samples from her songs, this is one of them. She was a force of nature, a voice of a generation and an inspiration to us all. We will miss you dearly, my Queen. ♥️
