Gambient Head Cheese (disquiet0556)

What is slow? This week we were invited to combine Gabber (which I learned is basically early 90s electronic hard dance music) with Ambient (which I knew was not). And Gabber is fast and Ambient is slow.

But what if it wasn't? I have a few bits of favorite music where I'm not sure if they are fast or slow. And so I sort of leaned into that idea here. With a result which, if I had developed it for 19 minutes, may have become hypnotic, but that's kinda anti-social for the disquiet, so here's a 2:30 version.

this weeks Disquiet is to make 200bpm ambient - who could resist a challenge like that 

Not really sure if it is either gabber or ambient but it is at 220 bpm! 

I'm sure in the right state of mind this could take you places!

Made for the disquiet junto 0556 where the idea was to fuse ambient and gabber genres.

Drums were made on a Digitakt and the rest was adding chaos / bliss in Ableton. Vocal samples come from Inspector Morse going to a rave. Legend has it this long episode contains the line "It's a rave, Lewis!", well I searched and couldn't find that, so just took some other bits.

Here’s a copy of my post on the Disquiet Junto 0562 discussion thread:
When I was younger, I used to listen to jazz at low volume when working on art or design projects late into the night and early morning. Something about that genre at that hour, was calming and meditative. Going to sleep after that was pretty effortless. These days, I rarely stay up too late working on art projects but when I do,  I might listen to some lofi hip hop before eventually heading off into slumberland. The unobtrusive soundtrack and slow BPM, has a similar relaxing effect on me as jazz.

I have very little experience producing lofi, but decided to experiment in that genre and see what happens. Ended up using mostly loops and samples processed and arranged in Ableton Live. Not sure how close I came within the definition of lofi, but I was sleepy after I finished, so at least it helped in successfully completing the assignment for me.
