This is a collaboration with my brother who wrote and recorded the acoustic guitar track first, and I then added the piano to it (and later added a piano interlude and ending).   

As a piano player, I find that it can be a challenge to share the stage with another instrument without being too obtrusive.  Additionally, piano and acoustic guitar are both rich in frequencies making mixing a challenge (especially for my novice mixing skills).  I don't think I would have even attempted this project if I hadn't heard a bunch of wonderful and inspiring acoustic guitar and piano duet examples on SC from @debra_buesking and @david-dunhamuser589535203  https://soundcloud.com/debra_buesking/sets/dunham-buesking-collabs
This song is in a different style than their work, but nevertheless it was very helpful to listen to Deb and David's songs while thinking about how to try to fit in the piano in a complementary way.

Song title: The rugged sound of the flat-picked dreadnought together with the spaced out melody of the piano gives me an overall impression of desert/Western combined with sci-fi/fantasy.

Killer Klowns from Outer Space is a 1988 American science fiction horror comedy film written, directed and produced by the Chiodo Brothers, and starring Grant Cramer, Suzanne Snyder, John Allen Nelson and John Vernon. It is the only film written and directed by the Chiodo Brothers, who also created the practical effects and makeup. It concerns a clan of evil extraterrestrials who resemble clowns. They arrive on Earth and invade a small town in order to capture, kill and harvest the human inhabitants to use as sustenance by drinking their blood.

Killer Klowns from Outer Space was filmed in Watsonville, California, and at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. The film utilizes practical effects, including rubber suits. The score was composed by John Massari. The film received generally positive reviews and has been considered a cult classic.

Sequels have been in development hell since the original film's release. Stephen Chiodo stated in 2016 that he hopes to produce three additional films, or possibly a television series. In 2018, NBCUniversal's Syfy announced that it was in talks to license the rights to make one or more sequels.

This has been a piece long in the making where I had the pleasure of revisiting my inner 5 year old, it was emotional, it was joyous, it has become a celebration - and now you can listen to it and hopefully go on your own adventure together with your inner child :-)! Recorded on a C. Bernstein grand piano and mixed November 2023 at GAM Studio by producer Armen Bedrossian near Paris, mastered by Coponat Records, Pioneers’ is a relaxing and uplifting solo piano piece. It was inspired by Northern America wide natural landscapes: the song describes the amazed feelings of the first pioneers when they discovered this land. The main melody and the second uplifting classical theme stand for a freedom hymn.
