The beginning of 2015 sees Czech producer Qo deliver his debut solo EP for Eatbrain. Over the last few years, he's become one of the strongest voices in hard drum & bass, owing to his expert skills in the studio - where he's carved out a distinct, aggressive brand of neurofunk - as well as the DJ booth. TELEKINESIS return on powerful form to the EATBRAIN label with 5 tracks of a truly insidious and tearing nature in the NO BRAIN, NO PAIN EP. The pseudo-friendly eerie nature of ‘Slime Gland’ leads the way, with nostalgic synth lines and airy pads punctuated by sharp steppy percussion. The pods stood starkly in the shadows, the outline of each distinct against the insidious green glow of the harvesting chamber, where the evolved one endlessly milked the essence of these bleak-fated souls. Within each synthetic husk the occupants writhed in dark pleasure, far beyond the bounds of morality, twisting their bodies and riding the ecstasy of their unrestrained minds. The bio-integrated neurotechnology affixed to each skull delivered an endless stream of visceral stimulants, bypassing the conscious mind and manipulating the subconscious directly. Each brain mass swelled with the constant input, pushing against their very skulls as the physical limits of bone matter threatened the intensity of a stroke. Their pulsating craniums signified their readiness for the harvest, their ripeness for the primary czar… a soul stretched to its limits, drenched in the decadence of its capacity… fit to burst from its flimsy biocarcass. In readiness the first pod glided smoothly across the chamber, birthing its inhabitant into the overlord’s grasp as he prepared to extract her essence.

Russian neurofunk heavyweight MIZO brings his unique breed of darkness to the EATBRAIN fold with the SOUL REAPER EP in all of its ill-grained glory. A distinct figure in the Russian drum & bass scene who has also been known as a member of Gydra, the Soul Reaper EP sees Mizo returning to Eatbrain following a long period since his ruthless 'Bad Omen' collaboration with Teddy Killerz as Mizo and the 'Psycho' EP as part of Gydra. Through the five tracks contained within, Mizo delivers his unique take on d&b, delivering 5 tracks of powerful solo material that smacks of the label's breed of premiere neurofunk and incorporating Eatbrain veteran MC COPPA. Title track SOUL REAPER delivers the kind of orchestral epicness that the Eastern scene favours, giving way to a mean, brutal assault or truly sinister proportions. With bouncy but pointed sci-fi steppers such as UNREALITY and SINK (feat. Task Horizon’s hiatus was a mystery felt throughout the world of drum & bass; secluded within the mountains of Switzerland, their scrupulously engineered cuts once littered the sets artists across the genre’s spectrum. And when they decided to close another chapter of their musical careers in 2014, their absence struck a chord. However, three years later the outfit returned already garnering support once again from tastemakers at BBC Radio 1. And for the New Year, they’ve delivered a five track EP of standalone tracks and collaborations for Eatbrain, a label who’ve taken dominion over the underground’s most vital corners.

The foursome are about to unleash their technically orchestrated ‘Overclocking Reality’ package onto the masses. Its title-track rolls out with a deceptive intro, one which begins to swell amongst rolling drums pads and ethereal synths. Up next comes a collaboration with German stalwarts Neonlight, delivering a melting pot of stellar musical aptitudes. ‘Enigma Machine’ is fast paced, unforgiving and oozes with menace, whilst featuring orchestral undertones that nod to the expert musicality of both production groups. Magnetude also jump on board for ‘Immortality Protocol’, another sci-fi inspired record pumping with extra terrestrial samples and metallic percussion. Next up, ‘M-920 Cain’ crashes forward with hollowed kicks and robotic vocal snippets, a dancefloor-lead anthem which is chaotic in its detonation.

And finally, your aural synapses are snared by finishing track ‘Flight Simulator’. Each electronically keyed note and rattling hi-hat leaves you mercilessly submerged, before the record breaks down into growling bass riddims and fluctuating distortion. Task Horizon has resurfaced and with the platform of a formidable imprint. Beside Eatbrain, they’re marked to once again inject their vision into the DNA of drum & bass.

The mass of supplicants prostrated just beyond its twisted paws, their pathetic mewling pleasantly caressing the towering feline fiend’s ears as they expressed their divine agony. Drinking up the delicious earmilk of their pain, it reclined languidly in its glorious pedestal; a mass of flesh and sinews with the fine carved bones from the countless many condemned to this realm of eternal torment. Its three eyes rolled apathetically to fall upon one particular beggar, drained of almost all remaining life from her years pennance, spent at the foot of the infernal throne, worshipping the glory of pain in all its truth and crying for salvation. The utter futility of this endeavor suddenly dawned on the great cat, as the constancy of myriad calls made for escape fell upon his ears at once. Suddenly annoyed by this ever-present sound, he reached out, spearing the pathetic being before him with a claw and flinging her from into rock and into the depths of the molten river below. His eyes watched her form ignite and fade in the heat, her soul joining others to be swept into its current on a journey to be reborn as pitiful lesser devils elsewhere in the plane. How benevolent an act, the cat thought to itself, freeing the pitiful creature from her suffering for a brief moment and more even - giving her the opportunity of such an esteemed metamorphosis. Even though the pathetic fiend she would be reborn as would hold not even a candle to his own magnificence, it would still be a marked improvement against the limits of her prior flesh. Sated by his own thoughts, he leaned forward once, rotating his vast ears to better drink in the fresh desperate energy of the remaining supplicants. Its hideous mouth opened to a wide, sharp smile, revealing cruelly serrated fangs that shone unnaturally with a umbral hue. “A reward for my benevolence,” he thought as he plucked the nearest wretch from the rock with a single talon, his pupils sharpening with focussed malevolence as he tossed them into his fur-lined maw. Satisfied, his hunger temporarily sated, there was but one thing left to do. He would take a nap.

The ZOMBIE CATS return to the label that set the fire on their ferocious project back in 2014, placing them on a fierce trajectory of furiously kinetic releases that have brought them to the present, their most pointed assault on the eardrums yet with the WORLD’S END EP on EATBRAIN. With the title track tearing out of the mouth of hell with slower bpm but highly charged energy, further establishing the newly forming neurowave genre, the cats make a bold statement from the outset. Also featuring 2 intense collaborations with masters of their art ABIS and MALUX, alongside 3 further astounding intensely fresh solo cuts, the WORLD’S END EP is a welcome return for one of tech dnb’s most respected duo’s, on one of the genres most consistent labels. To hold back the everpresent encroachment of the dunes they had raised walls of great heights, built upon the sacrifice of those least fortunate among them, those condemned to work beneath the blistering heat of the land. It was through their blood that the city was built, through their blood that the fortunate lived in such an otherwise inhospitable climate. As the death of these sacrifices increased however, they bore new life elsewhere. Their blood, seeping through the cracked desert soil, awakened something long since sealed away.

Fed by their misery, the creature’s power grew beneath the dunes. For each that fell it became stronger, its hunger rising as it tasted more and more that which had been denied to it for so long. Upon the night of the sun’s peak it rose, driven by the heat that still radiated from the earth. It was a malstrom of sand, fire, and bone, an amalgamation of destruction which surged across the landscape. What little life there was in this desolate place was subsumed into its maw, becoming a part of the dynamo which swept towards the city. Its winds battered against the walls, grinding their stones to dust which only furthered the creature’s power. In minutes it had broken through, and as the city was swallowed within the vortex the DUST DEVIL reclaimed for the desert what was its own once again.

MIZO returns to EATBRAIN with the release of DUST DEVIL, a five track EP featuring collaborations with TRILO & CHASER. DOUBLE RUSH features the powerful combination of MIZO & CHASER, as well as the combination of a frantic topline and charging bass which work together to move the track forwards at a rapid pace. An observer stood upon a rooftop, gazing out over the metropolis that shimmered beneath him. To all outward appearances, it was an idyllic landscape. Busy & bustling, sure, but in ways that spoke of efficiency and the success of their kind. To them, it was a monument to their collective greatness that they could construct the steel-boned monoliths that reached upward to the heavens, but for the lone rooftop figure, a very different view was laid out below. His gaze cut through the superficial, and saw the city for what it truly was: a TORN PLACE.

Within his eyes those same monoliths represented not success in their glittering facades, but rather the greed, avarice, and corruption of those who dwelled within. He saw the rampant struggle to reach their peaks, the drive to triumph over one another, that also drove its champions to madness as they buckled under the weight of what they had done. As his gaze fell downwards the observer saw the destitute prostrate themselves upon the city’s streets, forced by some cruel twist of fate or the actions of those whom had climbed above. They gathered on these avenues as plaque within veins, their continued accumulation a warning sign of the city’s impending cardiac arrest. Alongside them streamed endless waves of vehicles, emitting choking clouds of black filth that spiralled into the air. So constant were they, that day and night a smog hung above the city, a poison that hung as a sword above all. As the observer took in these things, the city itself seemed to morph before his very eyes, changing its form in accordance with its monstrous nature. Faces upon billboards became malevolent visages with gaping mouths stretched wide in hunger. The towers, once glittering, unfurled before him like the tendrils of some primordial behemoth. All rushed towards him, consuming him within an endless expanse of darkness which was dispelled a moment later. The observer stood once more upon the rooftop, and the city shimmered once more beneath him. But for he who had seen its true nature, it could never be home again.

FOURWARD return to EATBRAIN with the TORN PLACE EP, their second release following their breakout Wolfe EP on the imprint. The four tracks within feature their sound in full, with the titular TORN PLACE providing grounds for it alone whilst other tracks feature a who’s-who of fellow heavy hitters on the EATBRAIN lineup. TORN PLACE opens the EP with cinematic flair, in which otherwordly narration and frantic basses occupy space in equal measure. FOURWARD combine with eatbrain bossman JADE on MAKE SOME, a driving track that pushes forward on the constant report of its stabbing bassline. REDPILL brings his horror infused sound to the table with DIGEST, a collaboration that calls on the pairing’s jump up influences amongst sinister saws. ELBOW features the sounds of L 33 alongside the FOURWARD crew and rises upon booming percussion before launching into a peak section of mechanized highs and rumbling lows. With the TORN PLACE EP, FOURWARD launch their multifaceted sound further onwards and upwards.

Amidst a vast lattice of cable & wire, a sole individual worked with inhuman fervour at his craft, bearing forth a constant flow of invention unto the dismal depths of his laboratory. He had sequestered himself here in this catacomb of creation with single-minded purpose, devoted entirely to a code of his own as he endeavoured towards all that had not been done before. Without thought for life or limb he set himself frantically to his craft. Before him, every vial was an opportunity, every electrical surge a moment of bliss, and every elemental synthesis a pathway forwards into the unknown.

For weeks, months, and even years the individual worked at a feverish pace, a hermit within an ever growing den of discarded reagents and the husks of former inventions repurposed for a greater cause. For all of his creations, such time alone had begun to take its toll upon the man, and as it marched on new thoughts came to his mind. “Escape....” came first, “I must show them the way” then came second, bearing upon him with an inescapable force. With his frenzy now turned outwards the inventor burst forth from the doors of his laboratory, clutching a variety of inventions in his grasp. Bathed in the light of the world beyond, the inventor sprinted into the street, shouting of his miracles as his SANITY TRIP drove his feet.

NUKLEAR debuts his first full artist EP on EATBRAIN with SANITY TRIP. Long known as a premiere MC within the neurofunk scene, NUKLEAR has appeared on multiple collaborations across EATBRAIN as well as RAM Records, Virus, and Viper. In bringing together many influences such as the heavy metal sonics of WHIPLASH, SANITY TRIP sees NUKLEAR bring the focus firmly to his own dynamic lyrical abilities across five tracks with an equally diverse lineup of co-conspirators including MINDSCAPE, PYTHIUS, STATE OF MIND, TEDDY KILLERZ, THE CLAMPS, & KRITIX.
